International Dashboard Problem Fix
A while back someone was talking about the epidemic of cracked and broken dashboard framework in the International 5000 Paystars and the 9000 series.
This happens in the area around the parking brake and trailer valve, the symptoms are that the dash tends to "push in" whenever the parking brake or trailer knobs are pushed in. Reportedly International has a factory kit to remedy this, but we have not been able to obtain said kit. Here are some photos of a brace that I made up today to repair one of those broken dashboards. Hopefully this will help someone out there who is having the same problem: Photo of brace on workbench: http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j1...Trico02040.jpg Dashboard with outer panel removed before installation of brace: http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j1...Trico02042.jpg Dashboard with brace installed: http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j1...Trico02044.jpg Dashboard after reassembly - no external evidence of modification (except that the parking brake and trailer supply valve are now supported so the dashboard doesn't collapse when you push the knobs in: http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j1...Trico02049.jpg |
