ULSD fuel

Ive noticed locally here FJ is only selling ULSD fuel will that help with soot in the oil? And what are the good or bad points of ULSD fuel?

It will not help with soot. A soot problem is a mechanical problem not a fuel problem.

Pros are there is next to no sulfur, the precursor to sulfuric acid. Sulfuric acid causes engine oil to turn acidic. The "total base number" or TBN of an oil doesn't go down anywhere near as fast with ULSD. Engine oil drain intervals can be extended with this new fuel, possibly 2-3X.

Cons are it has about 1-2% less energy, resulting in the same loss of fuel mileage and horsepower. It is has less lubricity. The industry has solved this, with additives. You do not need to buy howes or any other additive with this new ULSD.

ULSD is required in any truck that has a 2007 engine(diesel particulate filter). Failure to exclusively use ULSD in these engines will result in emission equipment failure. Your warranty will go out the window as well.
