Reiterated... Tires Vibrate... T.A. Will Not Warranty Tire!
 

Here is my final update on my tire problems...

As I indicated the tire was determined to be defective from the factory... Firestone FS 507.

I phoned the T.A. Truck Stop where I originally purchases the front steer tires and advised them of the problem. I asked them if I could bring the truck in to have a new front tire installed. The manager indicated that they could not change the tire or do anything about it until the area rep. came around to make his final determination if the tire was defective. The tire rep. only comes around every THREE MONTHS. Can you believe this?

So this is what you get when you buy at a truck stop... keep this in mind guy's!

So I phoned the tire shop that installed my eight drives, and who worked on the front steers. They said no problem we will order you a tire and have it by Monday and it will not cost you a dime as it's under warranty. I just need to show them the receipt.

I advised the T.A. that I would never do business with them again!

That all sounds typical... find a good shop/tech, and use them exclusively whenever possible.

Only buy tires at a truck stop when you have no choice and my personal preference for steer tires are Bridgestones.

Buy fuel from a TRUCK STOP.

Buy repairs or maintainance from a TRUCK SHOP.

Buy tires from a TIRE DEALER. :wink:

t/a is probably worse truck stop to buy tires from, NEVER buy from truck stop :lol: went to buy 4 brand new kelly drive tires with 18/32 inch tread depth, 333 bucks apiece!!!(this was past wednesday) thats outrageous(and its the TA on I-85 exit 63 in SC

Exit 1 in Iowa, just before you get to Omaha has a tire shop that i heard has the best prices in the country, I find mine under the table in Chicago for 210 a piece installed....


Look for someone who works at the shop, tire or mechanic, they probably can steer some in your direction without any questions being asked. :wink:

I change my own, if I needed to go to a truck stop it`d be a petro though.

I bought a pair of michelin steer tires years age and the front end was hopping pretty bad. The michelin dealer wouldn't even come out from behind his desk to take a look- he just stated flatly "michelin does not make a defective tire"- end of discussion. In other words, I had purchased 2 tires with no warranty. The funny thing is, he was right- I didn't have the bead seated right on one of them, it wasn't perfectly concentric with the rim; there was nothing wrong with the tires, but to this day I've never owner another michelin tire.

after installing a tire, you look just along the rim flange and find a circumferential line on the tire. spin the tire and watch that line ; it should run parallel to the rim all the way around. if it disappears behind the rim flange you would also expect to see the tread shift at the same point.
