truck alignment
 

I have a little shaking in my steering (front end) when I reached speed of about 55mph will smooth out at higher speed . Do you think I need a frontend alignment or could something else be wrong, no wear on my tires. Do any one use those wheel balancer. and if get the computerized front end alignment shop said that they can align truck from front to back, If anyone has had this done post and let me know what your opinion or results. Thanks

same thing happened on my truck about 2 years ago...it would shake real bad at 35-45 mph and then as i got to a higher speed it wouldnt do it anymore........got an alignment and took the problem away :D :D

Get your front wheels balanced. Should be $30 each. How does the truck handle?

I've heard too much caster can cause a shimmy. That would be resolved with an alignment.

Don't know about alignment causing shimmy, but balance certainly does. Had a set of tires that had to be re-balanced every 30K or so. I put on a set of Centra-matic balancers and have not had any problems since. If you're getting a shake at 55, you WILL have flat spots on your tires before long. Take care of the balance now. Alignment tends to wear off one side of the tires more than the other. Haven't heard of that causing any shake, only a pull to one side or the other.

Funny Allan, Could also wash out your inside rims, front and back.

It's true! Shopping cart wheels have a lot of caster, that's why they shake like that!
