once in a great while my truck (3406e) cat would have the tendacy to be rough when on the gas...

not sure how to explain it but my fuel petal would feel like a orbital sander, if that's how i should put it...

eventually it would dissapear in about an hour to an hour and a half...

then it would be smooth as silk like riding a small car...

it seems to only do that when i would idle for a period of time (1/2 hour or so without upping the rpm)

is it normal or do i have a minor problem????

Is it puffing white smoke when it runs rough? Could be water in the fuel filter. I would try replacing both of them, it's cheap. If you use injector cleaner in your fuel then fill the fuel filters with that instead of fuel when putting the new filters on.

what i find strange is that it goes away after a while ????? i had similair affects when 1 my speed sensor in back of trans went out & 2 when a fuel injector wire failed. but it never went away until fixed. an air to air hose would also cause the same symtoms, but again wont go away until fixed.

When you idle low like that for a period of time you get "wet stacking" basicaly its fuel in your turbo and exhaust system - oftem it will look like your turbo is leaking (most drivers think it's oil). When you get on the throttle it pushing that accumilated fuel thru the system and thus runs like that - rule of thum - if you are going to idle at all - bump the rpms to 1000.

Burns fuel but it's what we recommend to drivers with that problem. Most report no problems since they do that.

(one guy swore he didn't idle - pulled an ECM report - 38% idle time - that sucker don't lie)

if it's oil, it will feel slippery between your fingers.

if it is fuel, it will be "tacky" when you pull your fingers apart

yeah i had that once... i though that my turbo was going to fail because there was oil dripping out... only happened once when i was idling for some time with low rpm...got me worried for a while...but it never leaked...must've been because i was idling at "low" rpm...
