Turned down by Heartland Express!!!

 I work for a small OTR container company out of Jacksonville, FL. Company going all owner op...so i put in a app with Heartland's regional deal out of Jacksonville...no BS !!! I have 8 years of safe OTR Experience...no tickets..no accidents...nothing!!!. I called this am to recruiting to check the status of my application...the recruiter told me that his safety director reviewed my app and declined. I was shocked !!!! he said he only gets yes or no anwsers from safety and i could send a letter requesting more info on the desision...i have my DAC report and it's clean...very confussed....maybe this is a blessing.

OTR container as in how many states do you go to. That could be the issue. If you are only doing FL GA and maybe AL. They might not consider that OTR but local.

maybe the best blessing you can have lot of the drivers there complain about how hard it is to get home time a few have said they were out for 3-4mths at a time

Consider yourself lucky. Heartland has a reputation for treating their drivers like crap. There are some good carriers around. I am sure that you will find something that will work for you.

I find it strange they did turn you down. I figured these days, anyone with 2 legs could get hired on with anyone...

Sorry to hear that. Did the recruiter give ya a reason? Like someone said, (I'm too lazy to scroll up to see who it was :hellno:), it may be that they didn't think you've had enough long haul experience. I know I couldn't get hired on with anyone. I haven't had any long haul experience in the last 20 years. :eek2: I would probably have to take some kind of refresher course, even though I drive half-way across Texas, 5 nights a week. That's like 5 states. :eek1: :p

You should be thankful that you got turned down.... :smokin:

FOUR whole posts??? Man.... You better take a break! All this typing is probably wearing you out! :lol2::lol2:

As for Texas being like 5 states.... that is NO LIE! :eek2: Something like 822 miles from Shreveport to El Paso! A solo can spend TWO nights in that state trying to cross it! :eek1:

During my brief excursion into Solo driving a couple of years ago, I made trips from NC to Binghamton, NY area in ONE day of driving! That WAS 5 states! :hellno: [Not to mention going from Grey to Blue! ]

But, the reason you get no "credit" for OTR, Wabbit.... is that you NEVER get too far away from a good BEEF BBQ sandwich.... or a 10 gallon hat and a "Howdy!":thumbsup:

Heck.... if you ever went farther away than any "border state" of the Republic of Texas.... well..... you'd probably have to learn a whole new language!

[ And you wouldn't even recognize what they call BBQ! ] :hellno:

:eek2:   No kiddin!

ok.. So maybe I should have scrolled up. :o

Actually, I did some OTR once. For real OTR, not just wheat harvest. I drove for SMX for about 3 months, several years ago. I remember picking up a load of steel coils in Los Angeles, and I took them to McKinney, TX. (near Dallas). I think it took me longer to drive from El Paso to McKinney, than it did from L.A to El Paso. :hellno:

TEXAS......It's a whole other country!!! :D

By the way, you should have had to driver across the wide part of Texas when the truck speed was 55 mph. :eek1:
