I realize times are tough, but come on....

While perusing Craigslist ads for jobs in my local area, as well as out in Phoenix where I'd like to live, I came across this gem! This guy says he's paying $9.50 (yes $9.50) per hour to drive an end and/or transfer dump in the Phoenix area. Unbelievably low wage for the type of work involved. Sadly, many are desperate enough to sell themselves short and take the job if it's offered.

***Need CDL driver min. 2 yrs exp. with end dump and transfer, needs to know the valley and the pits. No OTR driver or LTL unless previous exp. met. pay starts at 9.50 per hour.***

Driver Wanted

been seeing many jobs with similar rates. Seeing jobs at the employment commission asking for at least 1 year exp and paying only minimum wage. In today's economy I might take the job but you can bet I'm outta there first chance I find something else.

Minimum wage + 2-3 years experience will get you a job driving truck local around here.

I would expect to see more jobs that are paying less unless the economy turns around pretty soon. Rates are down and the government keeps throwing more and more taxes on businesses. More taxes means less money for benefits and pay.

I took a new hire out yesterday to train him and he told me his uncle has a dump business and pays his drivers about $350/week. Hires retired looking for something to do and felons who have no where else to go and just need a job to get back into the workforce.

There are a lot of local driving jobs around here that pay around the $10./hour range.
The City of Wichita Falls is the world's worst.

Things are pretty succky here in my part of Texas. 10 bucks an hour would be okay if I didn't have to drive more than 10 miles to get to the yard. But until construction picks up I doubt any of the dump companies need drivers.

I think you'll be better off working at McDonaldS or other fast food place for that kind of money. At least you have free food(saves you money) and don't have to put with the risk of driving a truck! PATHETIC!:pissedoff::pissedoff::pissedoff:
