My husband will start orientation with Landair on May 18th. I was curious if anyone has any information about them.

Landair Transportation Didn't Work Out!
 
My husband started orientation on Monday the 18th, his previous boss had not sent the employment verification by Tuesday morning, they asked him to call him to fax it ASAP, he did. His previous boss (Kingsville Towing & Repair out of Kingsville, Ohio) neglected to verify all of his experience with the Heavy duty wrecker, flatbed, box truck and landoll. He just stated tow truck driver - landair let him go for falsifying his application as they said a tow truck driver does NOT require a CDL nor is it tractor trailer experience!! He asked if he could call his previous boss explain that he needed ALL of his experiance will all equipment verified, but Landair would not allow him to call them nor will they acept another verification form from him!!!

Landair uses the DAC system - I am wondering if they will place something on his DAC about falsifying experience - and if so - How will he be able to remove this information as it IS verifiable - his previous boss is just a jack*****- we are not sure if it was intentional on his part or not YET as my husband is still too pi$$ed at the moment to talk to him about it, but he will be talking to him on Friday when he picks up his last paycheck.

Any info on how we might be able to handle the DAC report would be great

jeeez.......maybe it's better he got away from them early.

Most likely Landair will report to DAC that your husband falsified his application as the reason he was let go. He can contest any information on his DAC and put a letter explaining this in his file. He needs to get his former employer to correct the information. If not his best bet would be to put a letter in his DAC file. All a company can do is go by the information that was provided by the former employer. It might help if he could get a letter of recommendation from the former employer to keep with him. You can't blame Landair for this. They only go by what your husband's former employer sent them. At this point they will assume that your husband will convince his former employer to lie about his experience. They assume the first verification is correct. If your husband did any otr then he should have some old logbooks.

He feels the same way as well, he also was told by the recruiter he would get .36-.43 depending on miles, but at orientation it was dropped to .31- .38 so all and all it probably was not the "right" company for him.

GMAN, thank you for your help, I plan on writing something up stating what experience he has, showing it to his previous boss to see if he agrees with it, have him sign it and also try to get a letter of recommendation from him as well, but if he did this out of vindictiveness then there is not much we can do about correcting it, other than sending a letter in to DAC stating the previous boss is a hostile employer, and hope like heck that will work.

My husband explain that because it was a Heavy Wrecker company they did not have to keep log books unless they were doing tractor trailer swaps going across several states, so the log book is a hit and miss does not show at least 1 year experience in the last 3 years consecutively.

It was not Landairs fault his previous boss did not verify that he had tractor trailer experience he was being a JackButt...

We did our research the best we could about the company before hand, we were looking for information from ACTUAL drivers...Notice the original post date of MAY 2, Orientation was not until MAY 18!!

Problem Is With Landair NOT Previous Boss!!
 
My husband and I spoke to his previous employer yesterday, they showed him the fax they sent to Landair (we also have a copy of it now) - it SHOWS all of his driving experience he listed on his application- so it was Not the ex boss as we had thought - He has contacted the recruiter at Landair to see if we can get some answers, not that he wants to work for them, but in order to clarify what was NOT verified like they stated, as we looked over his application which I faxed vs. the employment verification sheet Landair required the previous employer to fill out - and we find NOTHING that is contradicted!

Does anyone know that since we have a copy of the employment verification fax along with the copy of his application, along with some letter of explanation would that be good enough to send in as a rebuttal to anything that Landair should put on his DAC - Would this work for that?

Also does anyone know if once you are at a company orientation - are you considered an employee? Would he have to list them on other job applications? From his point of view he never got paid and never was put in a truck- not an employee, but at the same time we don't want to not list them if it will hurt his chances at another company.

They will most likely enter it in DAC as termination during orientation.
