Cardinal
Saw an ad for them. They claim that your home every night and have weekends off working for a local home improvement store (read lowes, home depot).
They claim $50,000/year but it looks like a lease/purchase. Anyone know anything about them? All That I know is that ive run into their guys in the midwest hauling insulation and stuff. |
naw no leased purchases.. different accounts have different trucks.. i know in the Richmond VA there's a Cardinal Dual Stack Sterling Day Cab that pulls from a local Home Depot and every know and then i see a Daycab Frieghtliner pulling a flatbed around the Richmond I-95 corridor and also a International Daycab pulling a 53 footer..
So all i know is Daycabs either pulling a short flatbed or a 53 footer... supposedly 45,000 a year or more but there jobs stay open lol.. |
If your making decent money like that and are home nights and weekends then I wonder why the jobs stay open. Whats up with that?
|
Do you mean Cardinal Logistics? They have dedicated accounts just like Cowan, Ryder, etc. The account you get hired for might be a good gig but when they lose that account you'll be on something else which may or may not be home every day. They run sleepers, daycabs, flats, vans. Just depends on the customer's needs.

Jonp, here is their website:http://www.cardlog.com/careers/search_results.asp. The link is for jobs in NC. Also, Cardinal is a 3PL(third party logistics provider). Like Hawk Jr said, when the contract is up(about every three years) and someone underbids them, you are SOL. You will either have to move to a different account, find a new job, or try and get hired by the new "3PL"(usually pays you less). |

Yes, IT IS A L/P PLAN! Cardinal has both company and L/P positions. Most of the L/P positions are delivering appliances.

Thanks for the info guys. I'm not sure I want to get involved with that unless its a new contract and its a company job so I have a couple of years to go.
|
I worked for them in California before I regained my senses and fled to Arizona.
They have the incoming Walmart produce account at Inland Cold Storage in Riverside CA. While I was there they lost their dry van Walmart account to Schneider and those drivers that didnt want to drive a pumpkin came over to our account and the miles went to hell real fast. Plus we had those Cornbinders with the half sleeper....useless for overnight runs. |

Sorry they took your miles tho!! Blame it on Schneider damnit!! |
Actually it was the motivation I needed to get my ***** out of Kalifornia and across the river into Arizona.
Much happier living here now. :) |
Kraft Maid kitchen cabinets around here. I believe it's a LP.

Cardinal also has: Papa John's(PJ Foodservice) Aqua Glass Office Depot They have more but those are the ones that I always run into. Cardinal took over Papa John's last year here in Pittsburgh. It was the first commissary they got(out of 10). I left Papa John's 2 months before the takeover:thumbsup: |
Yep, they are running the Pappa Johns out of Phoenix Arizona too.

They were the first company I leased on to. I did not lease a truck from them. I bought my own cheap truck. Ran local doing Home Depot, then I got on a dedicated door account. (Brosco) They lost it.
They are sneeky just like every big company. I ended up becoming a settlement carrier for them in the end. Got my own authority so when they did not have work I would do other local P&D with my truck. They are very slow. Guys on Long Island have become company guys now. $750 a week for 6 days. Not good. They charged about $1600 to $1800 for a truck per month, plus maintinence miles at .10. I knew two guys that finished their lease. One guy made a mistake and got another truck when he finished the first one. Bad, because he is starving right now and is losing money every week. I did hear they lost Kraft Maid, not sure. Don't lease a truck from them. If you decide to go with them, get your own truck and become a settlement carrier so you can go do other work, because they do not have enough. They will lie to you also. The salary the guys made was about $25,000 after all your expenses and taxes. Years ago when Home Depot was new the guys did fairly well. It has been downhill from then on in. I left after the door account was lost. It was a short fast route, and I did other work and made out pretty good. Once that was gone I left and I have been out on my own. |
