No Carriers Hiring for N.C.???

Well, I am up the river without a paddle! I have 6 years exp. no points/accidents. 1 dwi 11 years ago. 10 driving jobs in 6 years, all with good referances. I can not find a carrier hiring for North Carolina. I have a dog,so that is an issue, but one I can deal with. I have tried all the major carriers and no luck. Anyone know of a smaller carrier out of NC that allows pets and possibly teams. My fiancee is graduating in 3 weels and we would like to run team, but can wait till he has more exp. he has been accepted by Werner, not me because of the dwi 11 years ago. Talk about a stupid decision. ( the dwi). If I could go solo till he catches up that would be fine. HELP!!!!

What about Carolina Cargo? I know nothing about them, in fact I had never even heard of them till I read a thread just a few below this one. Just going by the name alone I think they might hire out of the Carolinas. Thier DWI restrictions only go back five years, so you should be good on that front. By the way, we all make stupid decision at some point in are lives. I got a D.U.I. when I was 16, but not because of alchol. Live and learn, I suppose.

Mountain River trucking out of Mt. Airy. They have beautiful equipment. 379 and 378 petes, and W900 KW's. They keep them immmaculate. They run from out there to California and back. I see them on I-40 here in OKC all of the time. Google them, they have a pretty good website and there DWI's just go back 7yrs so if yours is 11 you could be in pretty good shape as far as that goes.

thx guys

I put in app for Carolina Cargo, But don't have the money for a dmv record. I would need three, Have moved alot in the past three years. (bad marriage):clap:.Anyway I will google Carrier In Mt Airy. If anyone else Knows of something else, I appreciate the help. It doesn't have to be a carrier in NC, Just one hiring out of NC. Ya'll be safe

What part of North Carolina do you reside? I know a lot of the mega type carriers will not hire folks that live East of I-85 or I-95 in North Carolina, it varies. Are you opposed to flatbed work?

looneygirl48 03-30-2009 02:09 PM

thx biscut lips

I live just west of I85. I tried Ruan,Westside,Roehl,Trans am,MGM,Central,Baylor,WSE,KLLM,Roch,US express, Freymiller,USA,RRR,Pam,Hirshbach,Wil Trans,FFE,DeBoer,CRST,Ronnie Dowdy,Watkins Sheppard,LJ Rodgers, Southern Cal,TMC,Stevens,Total trans, and the list goes on....... if they donn't hire out of NC ,they have a hiring freeze or they don't allow pets, etc. Oh well God will give me what I need. Just Pray for me.

You do understand the negative implications of having ten driving jobs in 6 years, right?
Look up a company called Wabash Valley Transportation and see if they are hiring in your area.

looneygirl48 03-30-2009 03:51 PM

yeah I know. Like I said I made a few bad choices over a bad marriage, trying to work things out, thinking if I got off the trk and ran solo it might be better. It worked at first, but the end result was divorce. Live and learn. I will try Wabash. Thanks. you have been a great help.

Epes Transport In Greensboro.. GREAT EQUIPMENT

Barnes Transports In Wilson, NC.. Fairly Decent Equipment

They might hire you but with that 10 driving jobs in 6 years wouldn't count on it.. but press your luck anyway..

I thought you were going to work for Shaffer several months ago? What happened there.. or do I have you confused with another.. looneygirl? xxxxxxgirl person?

have you tried Dillon? Purdy?

looneygirl48 03-31-2009 12:22 PM

yeah, that was me. I was there for three months. horrble miles every week. I was N.E. Regional. I went to Celadon, and loved it. I had total knee replacement in December and was out till now. They will rehire me but changed a few policies while I was out. Anyway I start back on the 6th, Just seeing what options are available and to be honest, I was trying to find a carrier that I could keep my pug. He has been with me since he was 10 wks old, has one eye, and a few minor health problems. So I am not really up the creek, Just feel very loyal to a loyal pet. But the bottom line is, I can't pay my bills with a dog, gotta work. Talk to ya'll later.

Don't want to sound mean or uncaring, but I think it's time to get rid of the dog. You can't turn down a very needed job offer just because of a pet. Unless his dog house is big enough for you to move into also.

looneygirl48 04-03-2009 12:10 AM

Yes you are right. Like I said I can't pay the rent with the dog, Gotta work. I start on 6th. Gonna take the dog to my family. I know he will have a good home and at least I can see him once and awhile. It still doesn't make it any easier though, but thats life. I am sure I am not the only one out there making sad choices, but thank God I do have a job offer! It could be alot worse. Drive safe.:surrender:

there are plenty of smaller companies that still allow pets--

more so now that the diesel prices are coming back down somewhat--

you just got to ASK and make more phone calls around

Q1: Do you allow Pets?

Q2: Do you hire out of Carolina?

No? Thank you... have a nice day ( hang up )

jonp 04-04-2009 12:13 PM

C&C out of Duncan, SC hires along the I85 and I95 roads. I feel for you. I moved down to Carolina last fall and had a heck of a time finding a driving job. What a nightmare. I finally took one with JBHunt, DONT DO IT, because it was all i could find and it has sucked the whole time. I am looking now but cant find one yet.

wayne100 04-10-2009 10:05 AM

Are you sure they are hiring? A friend of mine's parents drives team for them and I heard they are laying off drivers and are having a hard time keeping the ones they do have busy.

looneygirl48 04-14-2009 09:59 AM

I went back to Celadon. Started on the sixth. Miles suck right now, but that is the economy. I have never had problems before. Already took the dog to my neice. He seems ok. I really miss him. I will get over it. I am a firm believer that all things happen for a reason, we might not ever know why, but there is a reason. Thanks for everyone's help. I really appreciate it.

jonp 04-14-2009 12:27 PM

Good luck to you and drive safely.
