This snippet of that article made me laugh so hard I woke up my co-driver!

Swift Transportation Co. Vice President David Berry said his company has a waiting list of qualified drivers for the first time in his memory. "We're enjoying our newfound popularity," he said.

Quote:"I felt like I was part of a carnival," said the 53-year-old Mr. Hockersmith. "Some of these truck stops are the filthiest places you've ever seen."

It not the trucks stops that are dirty, it's the people who stop there with their poor hygiene habits, that includes truck drivers and John Q Public.

Sorry Mr. Hockersmith, Trucking is a lifestyle not a job.

80 inhouse recruiters? How did they get that many liars together?

I am also glad that Prime finally decided to more closely examine the applications of their applicants.

I'm seriously looking into retiring. (I've been tired for many years now) That should give the rest of you one more opening. Dispatch is doing some serious scratching around in order to try to keep the drivers moving.

It's not over yet. Banks are still failing. They are up to 16 now, just for this year. And, still more companies are closing their doors. One small company I was at recently, the owner said he dipped into the last of his reserves to keep the doors open, and if it gets any worse, he's going to have to shut down too. And, that's in the food industry.:eek2::eek1:

Of course, if you put "WINDWALKER" in as President in 2012, things will change. (a promise you can count on.):lol2::thumbsup:
