WHAT TOMORROW BRINGS

I for ONE think it brings HOPE and CHANGE that is much needed in OUR industry.
I also believe that with the change of power things will get better NO NOT OVER NIGHT but in the forseeable future. I give credit to the current administration for keeping our country safe while in the midst of battle. The incoming administration has kept aboard many of the safe calls put into place by PRESIDENT BUSH and I think PRESIDENT OBAMA will do the same in a effort to keep us safe .

Our ECONOMY is in shamble but we are headed in the right direction and I think PRESIDENT OBAMA will lead us into prosperity.

You may ask what does it have to do with us TRUCKERS but as the country rebounds from our ECONOMIC SLOWDOWN so will the FREIGHT VOLUME in which earns us all a living..

Stay hopeful and keep a POSITIVE attitude for what lies ahead for our country will be prosperus. AMERICA has come through more troubled times than now and as always it is AMERICAS TRUCKERS and the professionals in the TRUCKING INDUSTRY which keeps this country MOVING along our NATIONS HIGHWAYS .

TOMORROW there will still be TRUCKERS and still be FREIGHT to haul.

For all stay safe and keep in mind good times do lie ahead for us after TOMORROW....

Obama, are you kidding me??? No matter how much things get worse, Obama will look like a saint because everyone will blame Bush for the next 4 years. And dont worry things will get worse. Our economy has been spoiled too long by credit. People have to get used to paying for stuff with cash, and I dont see that being a bad thing. But its gonna take a while for it to turn around. Also, there is one thing that can turn this thing around and thats to lower the tax rates for business, but thats not going to happen. All this bail out crap going on is doing is prolonging everything and making our kids and grand kids to clean it up for the next 50 years. Man dont get me started.......

Bush is not to blame for the CREDIT CRISIS
Anyone with half a brain would know that all this started back with CARTER. and CLINTON put the ICING on the CAKE.

This BUILD, BUILD, BUILD, mentality and folks putting stuff on CARDS to pay mortgages they could not afford this didnt start 4 years ago or 8 something like this take way more time .

We never really cleaned up the mess from the Great Depression. What makes you think we can get this mess cleaned up in 50 years. ;)

History has a way of repeating itself and until man as a whole figures this out and chooses to learn from it we will continue to be on the treadmill going nowhere. More often than not greed is at the heart of the wrongs.

It is not the fault of any president, Carter Clinton Any of the Bush boys or even FDR for that matter when it comes to the home lending crisis.
The blame lies with in the lenders and the home buyer. When I bought my home here in Florida back in 98 I was offered an adjustable rate and took it as my obligation was high at the time due to a recent divorce however in two years I could refinance, and I jumped on it, anything that has an abiltiy to go up and down with the market, is going to at some point, Do the basic math, ask questions and then realize if your mortgage has a chance of going up by $800 a month why would you take the gamble??? So blame the homeowner who failed to properly do their homework or took a chance and rolled the dice, and the lenders who suckerd many many people into the American dream....
But to blame the president for this is just not reality, this comes from one who thinks that Bush is a total idiot who got through life on his father's coat tails but still it is not his fault.

this election is overrated... the way the news has been covering it, I would not be surprised if Jesus, Elvis and Abe Lincoln showed up for the inauguration, and the original Beatles played a concert afterwards.

Either way, bigger government is not the answer. And thats what Obama wants, bigger government. People think that the government has all the answers and they dont. And the government did start this home lending crisis with the dems pushing these lenders to give loans to people that they knew cant afford them. The bigger government gets the less freedom we get. Before we know it, its going to be like England and you are going to be told what car to buy, and what temp to set your thermostat to.

We do it without tanks in the streets. Actually, I'm not all that interested in the inauguration, and maybe that's what you meant (that you're not interested either), but any time a new American president is sworn in, history's being made. A lot of people gave all so we could do this.

And . . . I don't think Elvis is coming back. He really has left the building.

I do believe their is blame THUS THE TRUTH IN LENDING ACT ... which required disclosure of such hanis lending practices etc ...

I signed a truth in lending paper as well, it was required. I knew what I was getting into, I also researched all of my options. Nobody held guns to these peoples heads and forced them to sign. True they wanted the dream and maybe felt like they could keep their end of the deal. In the end every person on this earth is responsible for them selves and the choices they make.

The Lenders are culpable, because they failed to adhere to sound lending parctices, and failed miserably in checking out the ability o fthe applicants to pay for the mortgages, as they were issued.

The Borrowers are at fault, for failing to adhere to the terms of their loans, and borrowing more than they could legitimately afford.

Yes..in tough times, it is hard to make the payments. But...when a person borrows for a home, they should borrow within their means.

Some changes will be:

1) Lower wages for non-union company drivers due to less demand for drivers.
1a)Fewer union jobs
2) More strict hiring guidelines due to less demand for drivers.

3) Greater push for intermodal transportation by the Obama administration and Obama supporter Warren Buffett, whose company owns a railroad.

4) Less influence by OOIDA due to shrinking membership.

5) Greater influence by the Teamster's because of the Obama administration's love of unions and Jimmy Hoffa's $100 million war chest.

6) More environmental regulation than ever=less profit=fewer jobs=less demand=fewer jobs=less demand=fewer jobs=less demand.

7) Fewer small trucking companies {refer to no.6 }

8) Consolidation among competitors in an effort to exercise some pricing power with shippers who clearly have an upper hand.

9) More bankruptcies due to shrinking margins , fierce price competition and less demand.

10) Smaller paydays for everyone in this industry due to lower demand. Anyone seen any sign of a rebound in the economy?

The president has as much to do with our economy as I do. No president has ever written law. He may state his administrations policy on (insert issue here), but he has zero bearing on the economy. That distinct honor belongs to the representatives we have sent to Washington, you know, the winners like Al Franken, Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, and even John McCain. The economy is what is right now, bad.
The past 15 years of America getting fat eventually had to end. Artificial increases in real estate values, lax credit requirements, and obscene profits made this all but inevitable.
We can only hope the aforementioned representatives will make these companies that are receiving these massive amounts of tax dollars, be accountable. Right now we are apparently just throwing money at whatever hand happens to be extended without any control or accounting whatsoever.
Personally, I don't give two hoots if it's Obama or whomever, but someone up there needs to look at the big picture; throwing money at a problem hasn't ever solved a problem, it simply makes it go away for a while.

And congress is at fault for forcing lenders to make loans to people that had no ability to repay them. But congress gave the lenders an out by having Fanny Mae and Freddie Mac purchase the bad paper from the lenders. In the end the tax payers are left holding the bag (again). Just one more example that illustrates every time the goverment steps outside the Constitution it just screws things up.

Influence by the IBT due to Haffa's war chest? Come on now...In the mid 70's union representation was at approx 33%...today, depending on the profession, you're looking at 8% to 10%. The war chest you mention has NO option to influence our profession.

What you are seeing is the infiltration of migrating professionals uprooted from their original professions...

If anyone done their homework per say We would not have a house and Senate full of Democrats, nor a President. But we have all heard NBC, CBS, ABC, CNN pass on all the Liberals side and laugh at the other side. These net works would broadcast news one week, and the next denied it louder.

But every time Democrats been incharge or in control, our economy has suffered. And they been in control since 2007, when the economy made it turn around to the worst. Prior to 2007, it was growing, to slow but it was growing.

Do I see our Economy improving in the next 4 years? No. Getting worst? Yes. When will it improve? When we wake up and take our Country Back. But what will it take? We Americans say we want to do what ever it takes to bring our manufacturing back to the USA. This will only be done by 2 means, make the companies want to move back here. Lower pay scales, harder to ship into the USA. I did not say it would be easy, but it a must. Why pay you 2000.00+ a month when they can get the same job done for less than 200.00 per month? As some remember me I lived over in the Philippines for a period of time and I seen people working for 1.00 a day. My Wife to be as a Civil Engineer mad 50.00 a week building a Refinery, and when she stated on the project they were 2 weeks behind, but they finished on time.

With the new Administration do I feel secure? NO! already in the second day they again given Aid and Comfort to Our Enemies. While I was living in the Philippines I witness the results of the Democrats Actions, 137 Women and Children lost their lives. The only way to Defeat Terrorist is to do away with them. Reteach them? That a joke. Being nice to them? Only get you dead. Arrest them? Only get you laughed at. Only way is to KILL. Our problem is we are to nice when it comes to War.


so what do I see for our future?

I see a night mare for most, heartaches for the rest.

I see more Terrorist Attacks here in the USA,

I see a rich Country going down hill

I see the beginning of the Fall of the USA so to speak.

Bush done a good job, but had his hands tied to much especially in the end. I did not agree with everything, but I can not agree with much with the Democrats way of thinking. Charles Manson would been a better choice than any Democrat in my Book. The Democrats has done much worst than him.

So I guess my next step would be to go and end it all.... No recovery in sight due to Obama's election. WE'RE DOOOOOOOOMED!!!!!!

i guess we know where coastie stands. i think we would all do better to put the hatred aside, work together, and support whoever is in charge. lets quit playing the blame game, and lets fix this. we are broke, lets get put back together. what really makes me sick is all of the racial jokes going around about our new president. c'mon, it is 2009 people...we are all the same, and we are all in this boat together. amybe i missed the news that coastie saw, when did we in the last two days comfort the enemy...last i heard we bombed pakistan, a country known for harboring terrorists. who cares what bush, clinton, bush 1, or reagan did. that is the past, lets fix now for the future.

I think companies need to get the idea of credit and history out of their head as well.. people have cash to spend but don't necessarily have the credit to purchase stuff these days but companies still insist on seeing their history. if you ask me thats ludacris. I was going to make mention of requiring good credit to get a low insurance rate but i'm not going to touch that one.

My wife and I fell behind when we went to driving school unfortunately and I think now its starting to hit our reports. Anyways, my wife was stranded 2 days ago in California due to a fallout with her trainer and when she called the company they offered to pay her up to the cost of a bus ticket. she found a few car rental companies, which would have been cheaper than the bus ticket for a 1 way rental.. but because she was going to pay debit card.. WHICH IS AN IMMEDIATE WITHDRAWL, they ran her credit and denied her because of our recent past, even though we have a nice cushion in our account, then had the balls to tell her "if you had a credit card we wouldn't have run your credit." We have a card but its a small limit and not enough to cover the cost of the card... a bullcrap situation if you ask me.

so yeah, if americans need to get the idea of paying with cash companies need to reciprocate and stop checking credit every time they turn around... i think the loose lending practice before helped start this but the now tightwad mentality (i.e. needing a 700+ score to get anything.. trust me i checked) surely isn't helping us pull out of it.
