Interstate out of tacoma

update: here is the difference over the last 3 years to now
then: work over major holidays get bonuses now: no bonus, but they still want you to work (office staff get overtime and paid days off still)

then: even had holiday company meal now: nothing
then: trucks could go 68 mph : now 63 (but still required to arrive in same amount of time as if 68 mph)
then: real vacation pay: now $500 per year of service (less than a weeks pay) and if you go on vacation for MORE THAN 5 days, you have to move out of your truck AND will most likely have to wait up to a week for another truck when you come back!
then: paid ok now: same pay but much higher cost of living
then: drive hard get there fast now: system logs even 1 mph over speed limit as "speeding"
then: could stay warm/cool when stopped now: some trucks have apu's, but if yours does not truck will shut off after 5 minutes at idle (company respose: buy a fan or an electric blanket)
then: got a free in house lunch and company store voucher for safety meetings now: nothing
then: never really sit long now: lots of work if your new and in the lower pay rates
that just some of the list!!
also:
1 preventable over $5k and your out
reduced office staff: can take hours to get help nights/weekends
company grill used to have reasonably priced food, now it is on par with truck stops
this company appears to be in an almost "lock down" situation.. not sure if it has to do with the class action suit they lost (all the way to the supreme court)..have heard some rumors it may be p for sale soon..who knows

this use to be a GREAT company, now it is just like all the others!

Sounds like they are trying to cut cost anywhere they can. With freight rates as low as they are I can't really blame them on some things. Jacking up the prices in the cafeteria though to truck stop prices seems a little drastic. I'd also hate to be one of interstate drivers in the far north where temps are dropping pretty well below zero with no heat. Also it sounds like they are trying to take care of the office personel who go home everynight and screw the drivers who spend weeks from home.

Same thing is going on over at Gordon. They are cutting O/O, Rent to owners, teams, solos for not doing enough mileage but are hiring newbies left and right for .30 cpm. I talked to a 10 year driver but new to Gordon who was waiting for a relay load, the past 6 weeks he has only been avg 2200 miles per week, the relay driver (newbie, less than 6 months exp) got there and he said he's been running 3000 miles a week consistently, his dispatcher was having a problem getting him a load home...(go figure) It could be my conspiracy theory or my tin foil hat is too tight but it does make sense if you own the business to get the cheapest labor you can find.

Also heard some office staff was let go.
