Myself, I would pick the VOLVO. Just like them and hear nothing but good about all the safety features and driver comforts that they have.

I'd actually pick the Volvo too. The one I drove (a 2002 Volvo mid roof) was nothing but comfortable. That was pulling a hopper bottom, and I had the lightest tractor/trailer combo of the fleet (just over 25,000 lbs empty weight)

The only thing I didn't like about it was the switches. Not only were they placed really dumb, but they were difficult to get used to (up was off, down was on).

I take the one that does not stink on the inside.

I've talked to quite a number of guys driving the Volvo's and havn't had one of them yet say it was anything but comfortable to drive. The only negative was they didn't thing there was that much room in them but I looked inside and it looked big enough for me.

with the weights u post REV I should be able to hit 25/26 tons payload which in this game the more the merrier
That's good money to be made

110.00 ton
25 tons
2750 gross (aprox)

Driver net 720 (aprox)

Most loads pay 100 to 125
Hazmat (lime etc) 135 and up
Canada (135 and up)
Depends on backhaul and deadhead which is free as u know but looks like a driver could net
$ 1000 to 1200 weekly (peak)
$800 to 900 slow time

What say u ?

With a hopper bottom, most definitely. Most of the stuff I hauled was at least 26 tons.

Wow, the rates have shot up since I was running a hopper bottom.

It really all depends on how busy they can keep you during the slow times. When I was doing that stuff, it was mostly regional. I had weeks where I ran 7-8 loads, and I had weeks where I ran 2-3 loads. When it's busy, it's very busy. When it's slow, it's very slow.

Generally, most of the waiting is in loading. There were places that I loaded at where I was guaranteed to have to sit for 12 hours or more waiting on a load.
