Tankers out of Houston

Hi all,I'm fixin to go back over the road and was interested in tankers. Was wondering if anyone had ever worked for/could tell me anything about tanker co in Houston. Ones I've been looking at were Stevens trans and cTL.

I think every company of any size that pulls a tank has a terminal in the Houston area. Check out some others before you settle on one of those two. Some options are Millers, Superior, Dana, and Groendyke. I am sure I forgot some.

Never heard of a Stevens Trans out of the Houston area that pulls tanks. CTL..there are better companies in the Houston to work for, but CTL would probably hire you and give you the training to moe up, given that you have been off the road.

Some of the better tanker companies in the Houston area, that hire "Company" drivers.

Highway Transport, Dupre` Transportation,Superior Carriers, Groendyke Transportation, Transport Service, Service Transport( yes...two different companies with similar names), Cletex Trucking (QC terminal), Schneider National, Sentinel Transportation, Martin Transportation, Bynum Transport (food grade), Hammond Trucking (food grade), Wynne Transportation (Food & Chemical).

Those are the better companies to work for in Houston. There are several that are even better...but your going to need at least 5 to 10 years experience to even be handed an application. There are several not worth working for as well.

There are a ton of Cryogenic tanker companies in the Houston area. Most require at least 2 years tank experience...though some will train you.

If you were experienced and wanted local only work, I would suggest Anahuac Transport...mostly vacuum work.

thanx Mudpuddle, I was checkin Superior's website out and they wanted 2yrs otr and I've been driving class b the last 2yrs. But I'll check the others too.

The two years OTR is negotiable especially if you are willing to go into the system with Superior. It seems most of the guys in the Pasadena terminal don't want to leave the zip code. Talk to the Terminal manager personally don't necessarily take the website as gospel.

I work for Tidewater Transit in Pasadena......well I have a job with Tidewater. Haven't worked in a week due to Ike. Anyhow, I think they are a decent company. They have been very accomodating as far as how I want to run. They are a smaller company and have decent equipment.
