I don't know about Dick Lavy but stay away from Prime. They are the only company that has been sued more times than CR England. Prime's flatbed salesman grossly underbid several sheetrock contract. They got 1 of the 2 below subprime rates. Now they can't get the drivers to haul that cheap freight.

if you are looking for dry van I'd look into Cheeseman, formerly Zumstein, out of Fort Recovery, OH. I used to deal with them professionally at my last job and they are a good company. they were my first choice before I decided to do the flatbed thing. owner is a good guy. drivers were always happy. new Prostars and newer Macks. they run good equipment, I used to work on it every day.

My son works for Prime as a lease op. He does pretty well. Yes, the lease deal is a ripoff, around $3500-$4000 a month to lease the truck. Yes, he's responsible for repairs and maintenance. But he still makes $2000-$3000 a week. And if he decides to get his own rig or leave, he can do so at any time with no penalty. Most of the truck is under warranty and he gets to drive a brand new truck every 2 years. But, it's not for everyone. You have to be on top of your expenses, mpg, operating statements, paperwork, etc etc. And stay out of the shop if you can help it...do those pretrips daily.

I've heard good things about Zumstein too. Supposedly, they give you all the miles you want.

Lavy is a good company but, unless they changed their policy, you must park your truck at their terminal when you go home. That was the deal killer for me.
