I have my truck leased to Falcon and I don’t have any complaints so far. I run through one of their agents in East Chicago Indiana. Everyone seems helpful at their main office in Youngstown Ohio that I talked to over the phone, never been there in person though. I loaded next to a company driver in New Castle Pennsylvania Thursday that was driving OTR in a day cab. He was happy with Falcon just wanted a sleeper cab. I guess Falcon pays for a hotel for him every night; driver said it was a pain trying to find a hotel every day with truck parking. I have yet to meet a disgruntled driver, but I tend to only strike up conversations with friendly drivers

They're a joke.

My cousin in Ohio ran a dedicated Chrysler autoparts run from Twinsburg, OH to Belvedere, IL. Low pay, junk equipment, paychecks never added up right, lots of hurry-up and unpaid sitting around. He cleaned his truck out and left.

Most of their van freight is tied to the auto biz, so stay away. I told a bunch of guys here to avoid JDC Logistics awhile back for the same reason but they laughed at me. Well, JDC isn't around anymore.

Falcon has a flatbed division, but I don't know much about that.

Steel. LOTS AND LOTS OF STEEL! The flatbed division use to be known as "COMPASS". They run lots of steel from the mills in the Pittsburgh area. They even have a yard 2 miles from one of the plants. Word around here is that they are the lowest paying of ALL the steel haulers. Something like 23% TOPS.

I don’t know anything about the van division, but in the flatbed division as an owner operator I’m paid the same percentage as I was with PGT plus falcon has a productivity bonus and safety bonus and don’t have all the deductions like PGT had. A good rule of thumb is steel mills usually not the best rate because every load goes through PLS for the most part.

Cummins444,

How much choice do you have regarding where and when you run?

I seem to remember Jagerbomber spending some time there as a company driver. You may want to try the search function, it wasn't working for me.

I can sit all week at home if I want. The choice of where I run is limited to Falcon’s freight lanes. The Falcon agent I run for owns a terminal in East Chicago and Pennsylvania, so I try and move back and forth between those two terminals. Falcon’s freight is mostly mid-west and east.

There is a driver that hangs around the East Chicago terminal almost everyday but has only hauled a couple of loads in the last two months. He turns everything down that they offer him. He doesn't want to go to chicago, but doesn't want to spend the night in the truck.

Thanks for the info. I live in the Nashville, TN area, Falcon has a terminal here. I've talked to some who were happy there and a few who weren't.
