Looking for job in/near Dayton, Ohio

Hey everybody,

I've been driving for 1.5 years now. I'm currently running for JB Hunt and can't handle the blatant disrespect any longer. I'm also getting a bit tired of the OTR thing, so I'm thinking it might be time to look for something that gets me home every night or every other night.

I have no idea which trucking companies are running through Dayton, Ohio and would appreciate some help from someone who knows. I'm really looking for any kind of job around that area. Does a company like Conway have jobs around there? Yellow? Roadway? Please help. Thanks.

Dayton, OH - hmm you shouldn't have to look too hard. Dayton Freight Lines maybe!

Good call Malaki86. They had an ad in the local paper here and they only require six months exp. but they do require Haz-mat(at least around here it says they do)

M&M, Reiter and I-Supply all require driver unloads. M&M pays well but you'll earn it. If that doesn't bother you, check them out.

Unless they've changed, Jet Express is very low paying. After I retired, I applied there for a part time job and the pay was $8.00 an hour. After I stopped laughing, I left.

NTB has a terminal just north of Dayton but it's 5 days out and two home. I drove for them for over eight years and they are a decent company but the pay should be higher. They top out at .40 a mile which is the same as when I left there 5 years ago. They do pay for detention, extra stops, etc. but it's only $10 an hour for detention and $10 for extra stops. They were paying the same $10 when I started there back in 1995.

I would just check out all the companies in the Dayton area and then make your choice.

Don't know if you're interested in tankers or not, but Carry Transit (food-grade) has a terminal there, and Superior Carriers (chemical) has a terminal on the north side of Cincinnati.

True, they also steer you to drive for thier O/O.

Apex(Cordell) is local hauling automotive but you better ask a lot of questions first, you will find out they dont like to answer too many.
