Anyone interested in JB Hunt?
I am just wondering if there is any interest on this site for a new thread on JB Hunt from a new driver's experience and a female driver's view? I will be sitting in orientation on Monday, May 5. I don't want to waste the little bit of time I have each day posting if no one is interested in how JB treats drivers. I would be willing to continue sharing info over the next few months as to how life is with them. I will do my best to be honest and give a fair assessment of things. Any one interested?

I hope your first day is going well. Please fill all us truckers in. I am more i nterested in crete, but it is good to hear about other companies as well. Also, a week or two from now there will be others new to trucking and it will help them as well. Look forward to following you! |

Do a seach here on JB hunt. We know all well how JB hunt treats there drivers. Good luck. |
All due respects, Evinrude...I was not looking for info on JB. Asking if anyone was interested in my posting my experiences over the next few weeks to months as I start my "journey" with JB.
|
I'm interested.
|
I am very interested. Please tell of your experience. It would be very much appreciated!
|
Yes Soladad, I'd be interested in hearing about some of the details of your early weeks with JB Hunt. I'll be starting with a company within a couple of weeks, not sure which one yet, and I'm curious about how those first few weeks are going to go.
|
I would be interested as well....are you going over the road, dedicated or something regional?
Good Luck!!! |
ok guys will do my best in keeping everyone informed. Not sure how long I will be regional. Am looking to the intermodal fleet in a short period of time but I don't feel it really matters what fleet you are on...dispatch is still dispatch.
|
Please let us know, I spoke to an Intermodal driver down in Stockton and he really liked it.
Every company has someone around who hates them, the more drivers the more hate. |
Cluggy already filled me in! Thanks anyway.

Good luck Soladad I hope you like it there. Sadly Repete. She isn't looking for any advice. Only attention. |
I think she only asked if anyone wanted hear of her experience with JB from a recent view.
She didn't say I 'm gonna bash you over the head with JB info like cluggy and CFM do with their tired worn out hate garbage. So if you don't want to hear about her experiences don't read them or comment on them. |

Belpre122...interesting that you think I'm IMPLYING anything or seeking attention! Can't someone (especially a female driver) just give their experience with a company on this website for those interested without people like you thinking there is other reasons. If you don't want to see what I write then don't open the link. I believe that sharing information good or bad is what makes this website what it is.

Lastly. Driver to Driver. I really hope that it all comes together for you. Additionally, I will heed your wishes and refrain from further questioning of your motives. However your experience turns out, I am sure that it will be of help to someone on the board. That is something I definitely would not want to get in the way of. Now get to work |
I would be interested in any new information that anyone has to give about JB Hunt, and any other carriers out there.
The info I have is old and out of date. And thanks to all of those who remember me. |
JUST POST YOUR EXPERIENCES
Kind of like everrtrucker does - but not quite as much detail and embellishment.
It'll make for an interesting thread and then you won't have dopes like Belpre122 trying to engage in nonsensical arguments. Frankly, I think he's the one seeking attention

Been with them a year now. They are what they are I guess. You'll like them some weeks and then other weeks you'll want to strangle your Qualcom. I have to scratch and claw to get more than 2500 miles a week. I've learned that wasting my time talking to a night/weekend dispatcher is just as beneficial to me as going into the truck stop and screaming at the nearest brick wall.
They're getting cheaper and cheaper by the day. I'm taking my first earned 7 day vacation next month in Dayton. I'm told I have to drop my truck off in Columbus before I go to Dayton. Fine...reimburse me for the rental/cab to Dayton, right? Nope. So it's going to cost me $150 just to GET to my place of vacation. This is the bgigest reason I'll be splitting ways with them at the end of the year. They're a good company to get your first 1-2 years with, but I honestly can't imagine having a career with them. I also haven't been west of Kansas City in an entire year of being an "OTR" driver with them. |

Bring it on Soladad. I want to know.
|
Go for it, Soladad !! After reading so much about JB, mostly from folks who've never actually worked there, it'll be quite illuminating to know what it's truly like, warts and all, from someone who actually works there . And judging from your previous posts from your Roehl days, I think you can be trusted to keep things informative and objective.

Making this short and sweet...I told JB goodbye after just 2 days. Was not going to drive a old worn out condo tractor (443000 miles) that must have been a training truck. This truck came with a badly worn and broken down seat, crappy transmission and poor maintenance. They refused to talk about a different truck. I told them unless I had a truck that was fit to drive and did not leave you with severe lower back pain by the end of an 11 day I was done. The thought of driving up and down I-5, over the Siskiyou Pass, for weeks at a time in that truck was not an option in my book for what I was being paid. Give me equipment I could work safely, effectively and with reasonable wear and tear on my body then it was a go. I spent my time in two old worn out trucks during my first year with Roehl. I refuse to put my back and body through that beating again. Orientation was a joke. They did not cover nearly half of info you needed to know to do the job. I drew totally on my previous background but felt sorry for those who did not have a good OTR background. By the 2nd day of orientation I knew I had made a very wrong decision in thinking I could run for JB. Safety and quality equipment just was not there. So there it is, guys. Take it for what it is worth. I'm done with being a company driver. The evolution started in last year before I left Roehl and now has taken place. I made the decision to go as an I/C. I know that to some of you this is not the time to be jumping in but there never is a good time. Getting tired of others commanding my ship. Time to take my life and future back into my own hands.
|
So I'm guessing there won't be a page 4? :P
Sorry it didn't work out for you Soladad. Best in your I/C venture! |
Congratulations on going IC. I have been thinking of doing the same. The more I talk to IC's the less intimidating it seems. Talking with one the other day and he basically stated if you are shutting down over fuel costs then you don't know what your doing. With the fuel surcharge he said his cost for diesel is $1.05 a gallon. But you got to know how to do the paperwork AND turn it in like right now. Now is a good time to get in because the herd is moving out and trucks are dirt cheap.
Best of luck and let us know how the IC experience goes.
