Chapter 11 bankruptcies serve to ge creditor off of a company's back and allow them to re-organize their debt structure. If Chapter 11 was the death knell, then SouthWest Airlines would be one of the few airlines left in the skies. Distinguish rumors from fact, but don't get too worked up when you read that a company has filed for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy. |

It has been made public knowledge that Jevic has shut down operations, namely due to the high fuel cost! There was another large outfit out of Georgia, but cannot find the news post on it!

Well TMC is wasting enough money to have me traipse around the country finally ending up in Des Moines so they can do a full service and change my truck from super singles to duals. I don't want to guess how much it costs to buy a set of 8 new rims plus tires for each truck.
So you can look at this information in two ways. If you believe that TMC is going bankrupt then you will assume that this swapping for duals is in preparation to sell the entire fleet. If you are rational you will believe that TMC is still making enough money in this market to undertake fleet improvement projects. |

The biggest problem with the Super singles is the wear life is poor. I have actually had a pretty good life with them as they are not anywhere near worn out at 237,000 miles. I am guessing I had another 40,000 miles on them easy. The other factors in the equation include a high replacement cost on the road, the need for roadside repair, and the poorer traction in snow.
I did find out how the trucks are selected for tire replacement. After weighing the truck retirement date and current tire tread depth they selected trucks 91850 to 91950 for the first wave. Once those are done they will start on the next 100. This is to prevent the shop from being mobbed in an unruly fashion. |
