Ashley Furniture

Thought I'd start a thread for these guys. I want to look into Ashley but I can't find any info on the Ashley website other than an app. Any info regarding pay, hometime, miles ect would be good. Thanks.

Geeeeeezer 02-19-2008 04:02 PM

They aren't "Drivers", they are "Ambassadors". hehehe

MedicineMan 02-19-2008 04:50 PM

I've never been able to find much info about them either

whoopNride 02-19-2008 09:48 PM

I know some guys that drive for them here in Miss. They have a large manufacturing plant in Ecru,MS. Probably 200 or more trucks running out of there.

Dont hold me to it,but I think the pay is around .35 per mile, plus drop pay, last I heard drop pay was like $20 per drop. I know they are paid Actual (Hub) miles. Lots of drops,5, 10,15,20 on each load. Some are small mom N pop stores downtown. Dressers, chests, tables, sofas etc. (Ooh my back). I considered them a few years ago,but decided against it. Too much work for me. LOL The guys I know make 60,000 to 70,000 per year. And Earn every Dime.

Not trying to discourage you guys in any way, Just telling what little I know.

Crap that sounds like a cake walk for me. I deliver for Sysco, 20,000+ pounds a day, 15-20 stops out the back of a 48 ft trailer with a ramp. And I barely cleared 50k. Furniture is easy, I've done it. Five to ten pieces, each stop. For 60-70k, I'm very interested. :P

MedicineMan 02-20-2008 04:26 AM

I hear ya with the sysco. I used to deliver beer.. You havn't lived untill you had to hump half barrels down some bar's 200 year old hole in the floor behind the bar basement entrance with similar 200 year old ladder and no stairs!

Ashley is always looking for drivers.
Their standards are high but nobody seems to leave after they're here.
Sure learn how to drive city with 48 and 53 footers.

Someone suggested I look into them-- I checked their website but couldn't find much info either. How close to a terminal/yard do you have to live? do they not let you take the equipment home?

No, you cannot take the truck home.
That's when they do maintenance and even wash the truck for you.
We have drivers that live far from the terminal and just sleep in the truck.
I am close so I can take my 10 break at home sometimes but run home in my own vehicle.
Give 'em a call or fill out an app. online.

sorry, just isn't practical for me-- I live 250 miles away- one way commute! Unless they started me at 60 cent a mile.

Every time I pick up a load in ECRU all I see in the warehouse are non English speaking people working the docks , So I wrote Ashley off as being a low rent outfit ...in MS they have the warehouse in ECRU and one about 30 miles north of there in north ripley MS .

Well.... let's refresh this thread and get some more drivers for this company. They are SO desperate for them.... I think they're about to accept me!

Would be my first real "solo" job. Been teaming since I got my CDL. Think I might jump.

Since this thread was started in 2008, they have started a whole new division for drivers that is PTP (point to point.) No tailgate delivery to stores in small towns. All D.C. to another, or to a drop yard. Almost all drop and hook. No touch, period.

Probably gotta live within 100 miles of a D.C. OR... in some cases... just one of their 50 drop yards.

I've researched them, talked to them, and am in "negotiations" as we speak. Lol.

Post if you have any questions OR advice. lol.

Mr. Ford95 03-22-2017 11:42 PM

So did you jump onto Ashley?

yep... that caught my eye :) but my curiosity went in a whole different direction, I guess... :(

Hey Hobo! :D Howdy!

Mr. Ford95 03-31-2017 07:07 AM

So didn't catch that before I posted it!:p

Divspec1 04-15-2017 05:46 AM

They deliver quite a bit to Rent-A-Center stores. I do not work for Ashley but deliver to the Rent-A-Center stores and have met a lot of great people who drive for Ashley, most seem happy

No. I didn't. But, I almost did... and probably would if I were any of you. I was going for it, until their medical examiner created problems concerning my recent surgery. He requested more info from MY (surgeon) doctor, even though the regs don't require it. My doctor just flat out refused to comply with more info than what he put on my "work release."

I could fight it on one side or the other, but... the delay has given me time and reason to rethink my decision. I was "born" into trucking as a "teamster." lol. I can do over 5,000 miles around this beautiful country in 5 days... and be home for a two day weekend. ... or THREE if that is what I really want or need! I didn't see that kind of flexibility with Ashley.

NOT taking this job is perhaps, one of the hardest things I have ever done. There are many benefits, but... I don't think this company ranks among the TOP "private carriers" as to how they treat their drivers. Borderline benefits, and "common carrier" hours (and time off.)

It just comes down to the fact that I can make around $60k with Fedex... and have more flexibility. Ashley "strained" to promise the same money... but, with a bit more time on the road.

They DID just recently start a new division called "point to point." No deliveries to local stores. All drop and hook, no touch. SOME bump a dock... which they PAY for (along with the drop and hooks.) You can make over $60k if you aren't picky about hometime.

Good company. Good people. Nice equipment.

Just not the best move for me at the current time.

This is a very cool approach to creating furniture, but it seems that society is not yet ready for such technologies. All now order products on the Internet and try to choose a modern style. For example, the company dining room furniture new jersey https://paramusmegafurniture.com/col...ns/dining-room earns a lot of money only on such furniture
