CR England. I didn't listen
 

I went to Dallas for orientation. The hotel was dirt and filled with bugs. Stayed there a week and they only cleaned the room once and that was only after complaining. CR England does own the hotel

The first trainer I had was great, Matt Helmer. Had him for 3 weeks. I really didn't want to lease so I didn't really see why I had to do another 3 weeks with another trainer.

First conversation with new trainer did go that well. He informed me that he WAS NOT coming to pick me up. I live 3 minutes off I-95. So I drove 3.5 hours to meet him. Met him at 11:30pm. He then tells me I have to drive first leg. He had dedicated run between Atlanta and Cinncinatti 9 hours. I told him he should have told me that so I would be ready. He suggested that I take a No-Doz and that would help. I was reluctant but did so anyway. Made it to Cinnci, by 10:30 am no problem. We ate and left Cinnci around 3:30pm. I could not sleep for most of the ride back. Not sure why, probably combination of No-Doz in system and his truck was not the best.

Got to Atlanta around 11:00pm. Informed him i had not slept much. He said I should have told him he would have given me a sleeping pill. I said A SLEEPING PILL, he said not really a sleeping pill but would help me relax so i could go to sleep. He suggested I take another No-Doz that i would be doubly tired the next day and could probably sleep. Got to cinnci about 11:30am with the last 3 hours driving in a snow storm. Slept even less coming back this time. When we got back I told him I hadn't slept and that there was no way i was driving out that night. Again, he suggested i take the sleeping pill. I told him under no condition was I taking anymore medication for anything. What was going to happen after the three weeks with him. I would be so messed with using all that medication.

I suggested to him that if he felt comfortable taking the medication that he should let me drive the drive back and he drive the over the night run. He got very indignent and reminded me it was his truck and he set what was what. I told him that we needed to do something or I would do what i had to do. He said 'so are you quitting'. I said no, we have a problem. I have given you an option to resolve it. You either accept my option or come with another that doesn't include taking medication. He asked again 'are you quitting'. I said no, its your truck and if you don't accept my option or give me one to consider then I guess you are telling me to get off the truck. He said then do what you have to do. So I got off.

I called the training coordinator the next day to tell her what happened. She actually suggested that I should have tried the medication. I asked her why had CR England taught me all that stuff about safety and fatigue management. Nothing I had heard ever mentioned taking medication. In fact they said the only cure for fatigue was SLEEP. I told her that if her solution was to suggest i take the meds, then maybe this isn't the company I want to work for.

I hope they haven't put anything on my DAC

I wish I could have felt a little sorry for you.

Let me check a little deeper.......nope. Nothin' there.

I hope you will spread the word so other's in your position will know not to go thru what you did.

Better luck on your next job. And the next time, pay attention when someone post a warning about a company. Most are NOT posting for their health.

I guess I'll be the first one to say this..I feel sorry for you! It's horrible to see great people, getting crushed by the CR. England idiots. At least you learned a lesson right? This time you will or most likely listen to what people are saying, and avoid the really bottom of the list companies.

If you're still looking for a new job, I would try Crete. Sure every company has there "horror stories" but It's better to have more positive stories, then negative ones!

You know that you can dispute whatever they put on your DAC, right?? Your going to need to obtain a fresh copy to see what is on there and then dispute it if it is wrong.

Gary might have trouble getting a job anywhere else with his criminal record. He might want to try another felony friendly company like Arrow.

He learned the first lesson quickly. He didn't want to lease. If he was an O/O Wait, hold it. a O/O @England. I'm funny. If he was an L/P SLAVE @ England like maybe his "trainer" was he would have to be taking those pills by the handful and not thinking twice about it.

Maybe I'm missing something here Colts Fan, but where did he say anything about having a felony?? By his original post, it says nothing of the kind other than he took some pills, he apparently wasn't caught by DOT, so no felony. Again, I may be missing something here though.....

Gary mentioned his felony in a previous thread.

Just so that some of you are aware, there are lots of other companies that hire those with felony histories as long as that felony is beyond a certain range of time, so don't limit your options. Gordon (GTI) hires as long as it's over 7 yrs old and they're a darn good company!

I having been hearing about CR England since I started driving in 94. Dirtbag, vindictive, bottom feeder company of the highest order. Without a doubt the worst I have ever heard of.

Don't take this wrong, as its not meant to be mean or unfriendly:

The next time 99.999% of the people you ask about a particular company tell that company SUCKS!!...listen to them.

You are not alone though....there have been many that ask, get told the same thing and get some notion that everyone is telling them lies....and set out to prove everyone wrong....only to find out everyone else was right.

I doubt that CRE will trash you on your DAC....but one never knows. But here's what I would do:

Forget whats happened, move on. Find another company. If something does pop up....sit down, write a letter...detailing your experiences with the second trainer...get it notarized as a true and factual "affidavit", go to a lawyer and show it to him, and get his advice on what to do. Also, be prepared to show it to new prospective employers, and if your DAC has been trashed....send a copy to DAC stating it is your rebuttal to their claims. Also....contact the DOT in the states where that driver runs dedicated, and send them a copy of the letter....also detail out the name of the woman at CRE who said you should have taken the sleeping pill....

Don't spend much time worrying about repercussions....CRE is more than likely going to be way too busy playing CYA....and if the DOT falls on them, they have even bigger problems than you.

If nothing happens....and you secure a job soon and get to work....go with the flow, get it done....wait a couple of months than drop a bomb on CRE. They deserve it.

Remember....when 99.999% of responders say a company "sucks"....there's a very strong chance that its best to avoid it.

There is a kid who lives a few blocks down the street from me who apparently drives for England. I say apparently because the truck is in his driveway for 5 days out of the week. How he is making any money is beyond me, as it seems like the truck never moves :shock: I keep wondering if he's a L/P'er and figures he will only move the truck when he absolutly has to? It amazes me that whomever his driver manager is isn't knee deep in his azz, because there's no way that truck is making any kind of money for them. :? Either that or he's toward the end of the lease and they are starving him out?

skywalker, you are absolutely right. With my history, when i got the pre-hire letter from them I kind of stopped looking. Also, with my attitude, i thought I could deal with whatever for the time to get the experience. Well, we see what happened. I am going to start again and this time listen to good advise.

You were put in a no win situation. Night time driving is very difficult to adjust to. When I started on nights it took me months to sleep during the day and that was in my own bed, let alone a truck. Drink coffee all night to stay awake while driving and try to sleep when I got home. It's tough. Sounds like you did the right thing. Dont give up, keep looking.

Just toss that info onto to OOIDA there are a few hundred law suts against them. 5 years ago i drove for them.. They put stuff on my dac that was false i had the info to back up my statements..(wife has all the records) i sent copies to dac and dot and got me an atty.

I really apperciate the 25k i took from them in court in Utah Dac shows nothing now.. Funny how a little law suit works. I think there just criminals and it starts with the whole england clan.

While i was at orientation, i met a guy who just became a lease driver and said his last check was for 2.00. don't know the whole situation but damn
