Rich2189 - Have you been working for superior long? I am hoping to work out of that terminal. I gave the national number a call a few days ago but the guy I spoke to said he would give me a call back when it was closer to my road test date on 1/09. How do you like Rahway? Is it worth the trip out from LI and how is the pay? Being from NYC you know how much cost of living is out here. Thanks.

Cyanide - How many hours did you avg in a day when you were a company driver? Does anyone work part time as a driver?

Kimoyo, I once read a tank yanker say its more than worth driving 100 miles for a job at superior. Once I get out of training I'm going to apply at a terminal 100 miles away in the next state.I want to be a system driver and go out for the week then come back in.This way I drive up to the terminal once then go home once for hometime. Some notes for readers to remember.

1. I am getting more time off now to be with my family then I did as a company driver. That alone coupled with #2 below is why this is working out so great for me.

2. Regardless of what income some drivers must obtain in order to make ends meet, I am doing quite well with what I am earning. I am not in a position where I must make a super-high rate of pay. My family and I's needs are being met, and met very nicely. And frankly, when it comes to my business that is all that matters.

3. I am on a dedicated fleet that runs out loaded, comes back empty. I have intentionally asked for the longer runs (albeit lower paying) as they fit into my schedule better than the very short, very high and much better paying loads, such as the one I started this week off with that was a whopping 86 miles round trip, and will pay me about $340. Or the one I did a couple of weeks ago that was 251 miles round trip, and paid $495.

I was comparing your estimation of Gross Pay and miles to Mike3fan and I notice he drove 113,000 miles so far this year and his gross pay is 180,054.54 I thought u guys are doing the same operation just different companies just curious why u expect to make alot less then him.. I agree with u 100% money is not everything I too value more home time over a larger bank account. I was mainly asking if the potential is there to make more if u want too.. I talk to one of the terminal managers at superior I'm going down to the avenel terminal wednesday to sign papers for the background check..I'm really looking forward to this especially after reading post from U mike3fan and maniac,skywalker....Good luck and keep post coming...Good luck and stay safe

Congratulations on the change Cyanide, sounds like it'll fit your goals better. Don't know if you have children, mine always enjoy when I have time to take them to school or sit in on a class (wonder if they'll feel that way in high school...).

Questions:
Does Superior cover your liability insurance on the truck? Don't see it in your list.
