Maverick wont hire me
Ok so most of you know I have been going back and forth between two companies. Maverick and Coke. The only reason I have even considered Coke of Maverick is the home time. So I decide to call Maverick today to ask a few more unanswered questions. Come to find out I was declined because I when through three jobs in 8 months. First job went out of buisness so I was laid off. Second job disolved my position, again laid off. And I am still currently and my third job. Now I know they dont want job hopping people, but is that really job hopping? All of them will give me nothing but great references. Any one know if there is someone I can talk to about this at Maverick?
And if there isnt someone at Maverick that will hear me. Will I find this problem at other companies? Seems a little unfair. Prior to all this, that first job I listed, I was there for over three years and would of never left if it wasnt for the lay off. |
Did you ask the recruiter if there was a way to provide proof of the layoffs? Sometimes if you provide a letter from the company they will work with you.

the response i got was "sorry but there is nothing we can do. it wasnt my decision." , and when I asked to talk to the person who makes the decisions, i was told "again I am sorry but there is nothing I can do."
Blah... |
Bummer. They are known to be very selective when hiring. Just try to get on somewhere and get some experience under your belt and I'm sure they'll pick you up.

Yea I am sure they will. He was all positive and asked me to call back once I have a more "stable" job history.
I wanted to punch him through the phone. O well. I feel lucky to have options. I know some have less to work with. Thanks for the input. Take it easy. |
Unfortunately, Maverick seems to have a very stickler policy regarding "job hopping", no matter how well covered it should be. My husband tried to get on with them first, was denied because of an unemployment/self-employment gap. In their defense they were not the only ones to deny him at the time. He was told to get 6 months experience and apply again. He did so..and got categorically denied again..with the same reason and same response...just get 6 months more experience.
Well, for him, he decided he could only get "6 months" experience for so long, and went to TMC. I would love to suggest that TMC will be more gracious, but I can't guarantee it, they too denied him out of school and only took him after 6 months experience. |
Yea I thought about TMC. Thanks for the advise. You should talk to my wife. You sound very informed. She is having some issues with me going to the road.
Thanks for the help. |

Thanks for the help. I'm willing to help anybody out though :) There's also a great more "wifey" as my hubby would put it, support board at LOADS ( I believe its loads.org but don't hold me to it) |
These big OTR companies are just ridiculous when it comes to their requirements. To many jobs what a reason if there is such a shortage or drivers why are they so damn picky.I would think they would be happy to have people still apply being gone 10-14 days for little paychecks???? Come on

How much experience do you have? We could work with you on your situation. We dont like job hopping either, but in your case that doesnt seem to be job hopping. Give me a call if you'd like.
