Question concerning flatbed pay
Is percentage of load better pay scale than being paid per miles driven? Also do any of you'll have any info on Falcon Transport? They have a terminal in the Birmingham Alabama area, and I think that is an advantage for a terminal to be located in your home town.

Could go either way. If it is cheap frieght then milage might be better. If it is a great paying load then percentage is better. If you are getting a good rate but running on HHG milage you will get screwed. There are a lot of variables involved.

I'm going to be a postwhore tonight.
I started on percentage with PGT and was having a hard time with being in TX. All the loads I would get would be short lumber and rebar loads bouncing me around TX. I got to be home a lot but I wasn't getting paid. Things picked up a bit when they started running me out of Laredo but they really wanted me to run out of Lone Star. Which pays mileage. So far I like the fact I can rely on miles to bring me a more routine paycheck. I know a lot of drivers on here love percentage and it does pay. I know many drivers that make killer pay that way. But for my exp. so far I like getting paid by the mile. |
I do much better on percentage than drivers for other companies that do the same job and get paid by the mile.
It jumps sky high, once I cross the GW. Last weak I drove 1537 miles and grossed $1632.50 However, if we do Jersey, I usually make around 8-900 before taxes, but I only work 7-8 hours a day. It also depends on how honest your boss is. I'm lucky in that aspect.. :D |
