CFI vs Crete for team?
 
Greetins all
Wife and I are looking to go to school and team drive. How 'bout a comparison between CFI and Crete for something like that??
Appreciate all the good info here, it REALLY helps us noobs do our homework before jumping in the wrong end and drowning! :roll:

I thought maybe you would have had some advice by now. While I can't tell you about CFI, I can tell you about Crete. I loved Crete as a solo driver. Crete is very much geared toward the solo driver. When I went team with my other half we found that they could not keep us busy. If you are new and you don't need really high miles then they arent that bad. BOL whichever way u go.

I agree completely with this. Crete's dispatch is just not setup to take advantage of teams. There is just not enough of them for Crete to change the way they operate. I don't know for sure but I imagine that CFI is the same.

Thats the kind of insight we need. CFI has a some team drivers I've heard from on their site and seem to do ok if they (the team) can get along together and sleep.
I appreciate any other info anyone can pass along

Something to ponder might be what some call super single or some such. That's where each person drives for 8 hours which still leaves you with 8 hours to sleep when the truck isn't moving. Not quite as much money as traditional teaming but more than a solo. Might also help you keep your sanity as well!!! :wink:

Super Single sounds interesting, what companies offer that? I have not heard of it yet in my researching, but definately interested.

Just about any company would let you do it. You would have to get both of you hired on as drivers and just run it that way. Let dispatch know what you are trying to accomplish so that they can try to find loads for you that would fit your style. You probably wouldn't be able to run that way all the time but it would give you the opportunity to earn more than a solo would.

Thanks Karnajj, I'll look into it. Sounds like a good option, unless it killed your selection on loads because it slows you down more than traditional team.

CFI has two levels of teams. They have standard teams and priority teams.
The standards run team loads....but are not as time sensitive as the ones that priority teams run with. Also priority teams commit to being available and ready to go all the time, HOS permitting. Standard teams work a lighter schedule. Both types of teams get 43 cpm and the 5 cpm NE pay as well as the 3 cpm if a placarded hazmat load is pulled...if you are endorsed. All pay is on practical miles.
