hey Dollar you guys chainup in winter mons. just curious?

You will have a set of chains on the truck, but it is left up to the driver if he wants to throw iron or not.

2 and a half years, never pulled them from the bag.

I don't think I even remember how to put them on its been so long.

i dont know how to do it... i was never shown how and dont care to ever learn. i'd rather sit and watch a movie in my heated cab rather than outside in the wet, cold weather....


You got a choice about chaining....

Never have, never will chain up.

I have always stood by the idea of.....If it's so bad you need to put chains on, then it's too bad to be driving.

I crossed I-80 in Wyoming at least a dozen times last winter and only had to stop and wait one time for the roads to clear. No big deal, I just went to sleep and woke up the next day and then looked at all the supertruckers that felt they had to go on the night before laying in the ditches.

I started driving just before the winter season last year, and i'm from the midwest working for a megacarrier, so obviously I was sent through all the shitty areas as much as possible.

I chained 6 different times, and only once did I think they weren't really needed coming down cabbage. Apparently I sucked at chaining on this occasion also, as the chains weren't on tight enough, and they ripped the stems from 2 of my drives

The first time I was coming back empty from grand junction to denver, with full knowledge of what I was about to hit. The chain law wasn't in effect yet, coming into the last climb before Denver, it should have been. About 1/2 way up the hill, I had pretty much no traction, in 3rd gear going about 10 mph... I barely had enough momentum to pull off to the shoulder when I realized the moment was critical.

This was the first of 3 big storms that hit Denver 3 weekends in a row and I was there for 2 of them.... sorry Swift, (or hopefully a different employer by this time next year) but I won't be going through that BS again.

I was in Denver also for the one big one last year. It was when the Broncos had their playoff game. That sure was alot of snow :?
