Food Grade Tankers

Are all food grade tanker companies experiencing a slow down of freight right now? I've got a brother in law that has not been getting many miles the last 2 months and they are telling him they don't have anything. I guess the company lost their load coordinator about a month or so ago and it's been getting worse by the day. He's normally out for 11 days home for 3. His last round out he wound up back home in about 6 days and will be home for a week before he goes out again possibly longer. He calls everyday and they tell him we've got nothing check in tomorrow. He's talked to the dispatcher and above and it hasn't done any good.

The other drivers are having the same problem at the company. He's been there about 6 years so he's not a new driver and runs where they send him primarily east and southeast.

Is it that slow all over or time for a different company?

Who is he driving for? Normally Food Grade tanks run steady all the time because people always eat and drink.... SO it may be an issue of who he works for....they may have lost some contracts. Hard to know, since I pull a chemical tanker....

It hasn't just been for a week or two it's been for about 2 months and the drop in miles hasn't been this bad for this long in the 6 YEARS he's been there. It's not just him drivers that have been there longer aren't getting runs either it's company wide.

Skywalker I agree food grade should always run I would think as people have to eat and drink.

The company is out of MN. and run light blue trucks.

Are you referring to Caledonia Haulers?

Yeah...I guess that surprises me that drivers from that outfit aren't getting the miles...hopefully it is a temporary slow down.
