Maverick Home Time

What is the true home time for any Maverick regular flat bed drivers that are on this board?

I'm in the specialized division. They get us home every 2 weeks. I'll be going home this weekend.

I think it may depend on where you live. There is a guy that we go to church with and he is home every weekend, home on Friday evening and leaves either late Sunday night or early Monday morning.

Maverick gets you home almost every weekend in their regular division, unless you choose to stay out longer. Normally in on Friday, out Sunday night/Monday morning. They garuntee you home 48 weekends out of the year.

Maverick gets me home most weekends. It all depends on how well you manage your logs and communicate with your fleet manager. They have every intention of getting you home, but sometimes it just doesn't happen.

I can tell you this. The guys that don't mind fudging their logs a little (or a lot) get home EVERY weekend and rack up some good miles too. Personally, I like legal logs and am willing to sacrifice a few weekends and some miles to keep myself out of liablity issues.

My advice is this. You can pretty much count on at least 34 hours at the house. Sometimes more, very seldom less. You can always PLAN to be home next weekend, but don't commit to anything unless you specifically request that weekend ahead of time. I've learned to make sure I keep everything at home caught up (bills, yard mowed, etc., etc.) so that if I don't make it home next weekend it isn't that big of a deal. Being prepared to stay out if you have to takes a lot of the stress out of it. I think you can pretty much be guaranteed that their not gonna keep you out 2 weekends in a row.

I'm sorry, but I think the 48 weekends at home guarantee may be TMC not Maverick. I'm not aware of any such guarantee at Maverick. If there is one, I would like to request a written copy

Hope this helps!

Maverick Pay

Maverick drivers, can you guys give me an idea on a weekly check, on the low end and the high end and then an average? I am with UPS Freight and I am not happy with the hours I am getting and I need to make some good money. I would really appreciate your honesty guys.

Be safe!

Smokdu...yup, I'm still with Maverick. I like hauling glass to much to leave. The good, the bad and the ugly huh, well the GOOD is that for the first couple of days, they buy your lunch. If you haven't taken the agility test, then eat a light lunch on Monday. Don't sweat the test, I passed it with no problem, and I was a major couch potato until I started with them. The hotel they put you up in has nice rooms and all the instructors there will be more than happy to answer any questions, and put any fears to rest, as one instructor told our class, they are there 7-24 for you even if you just need to hear a friendly voice. The BAD...first few days expect to be in class from 7 AM till about 8 PM unless everybody in class wants to work through the dinner break. No biggie. The UGLY...it's F*&%?@#! hot in Laurinburg right now. I was there this morning, dropped off one trailer and picked up a loaded one, I was burning up in that dusty lot!...lol

Once you get through the 2 weeks of classroom and are assigned an over the road trainer, I can not stress this enough....LISTEN LISTEN LISTEN to every word he says! No matter how small it seems, listen and file it away in your mind. There will come a time when you're on your own that something will happen, or is about to happen, and what that trainer told you will pop into your head and you'll be able to deal with it. Trust me, it'll happen!...lol

Okay, that's all I got. You're gonna have a blast learning about glass and how to load, tarp, unload, break down trailers into flat bed mode and all that neat stuff! I look forward to reading about what happens over the next couple of weeks!
Good luck and have fun!

Tinbender

P.S. sorry I didn't get back sooner, but some places on this planet don't have internet access...go figure huh? :?:
