MCT out of Sioux Falls South Dakata called me today about a job.

Good.........Bad........Opinions???

They don't have trucks of their own so you'd be driving for a fleet owner or be an O/O yourself. If you drive for a fleet owner check out the pay very closely along with the benefits if they have any. I have heard their training program is good from a few people that have posted on the forums.

Yes it would be through a fleet owner but it seems everything goes through MCT.....The hiring, the approvals, the training, orientation.

They said their training would be 25,000 miles with a lead driver @.11 a mile.

Hmmm....

If you're a new driver...let's assume you'll be doing the bulk of the driving:
- target = 3,000 miles/week (probably more miles a week with your trainer driving as well--but let's start here)
- 25,000 miles divided by 3,000 miles/week = just over 8-weeks of training
- .11 x 25,000 miles = $2,750
- $2,750 divided by 8-weeks = $344/week

Ehh...not so good...worst case scenario: can you survive on around $350 for up to 8-weeks?


If you're an experienced driver...
- target = 6,000 miles/week (team operation)
- 25,000 miles divided by 6,000 miles/week = just over 4-weeks of training
- .11 x 25,000 miles = $2,750
- $2,750 divided by 4-weeks = $688/week

Better...although highly unlikely you'll be doing a team operation for the entire time.


Your training ordeal...oops--my bad (sorry)...experience will probably fall somewhere in between the above scenarios.

If you decide to run with MCT, try to get a guestimate of how much you'll be making during a typical training week to see if your budget will handle what you'll be making....

They told me the the quickest the training has been was 4 weeks and the longest was 6 weeks.

My budget can handle it no matter what it is.

I was an O/O with them, I really liked the company. You get to choose where you run on most dispatches. Can't help you much other than that.
