back otr after 41/2 years

I am going back into trucking after a 4 and 1/2 year stint as a salesman, no wrecks, no tickets, 700k miles pulling doubles. I have 2 young children so i would like to have weekends at least. Any suggestions? I was thinking flatbed maybe.

you may very well have to go out with a trainer again, or get a refresher course on your dime. they (most companies) prefer recent OTR within the last 3 months or so.

well so far i have rec'd the following offers:
anderson flatbed - trainer for 1 -3 weeks

a.passmore - trainer 4 weeks
averitt - trainer 1 - 4 weeks
all of these have weekend home options, i have also got apps in at every ltl in dfw area. i will make a call on friday, any suggestions on these co.s would be greatly appreciated. tia

I didnt know that Passmore had trainers. :| They used to only hire experienced guys. Well, anyhoooo, Passmore is a good company. If you live in the south central,(Tx,Ok,NM, etc) you will get home on a weekly basis. They run those big ole Petertrucks. Maverick would also be good to go with, especially if you live in the south.. Tmc is also good, for what I hear. There is a thread on Tmc, with good info.

i do have LOTS of experience, just not recent.

i think if you have 2 yrs, then they will train for flatbed.

Any questions about Yellow go to truckingboards.com and ask over there . The .54 cpm is probably after 2 years but I don't known it may vary with teams .
