Who's the best?

I have been around and around these boards and can't figure out who to apply to or who is worth working for. With all the experience around these boards I would like to know 1 company who you like working for and why and 1 you didn't and would avoid and why. Thanks.

Who you work for depends on many things.....like what kind of company you want to work for: Van, Reefer, Flatbed, Tanker..... and who you can work for depends on where you live....

You need to decide what your priorities are, and go from there. I would also recommend that you take everything and anything said in a forum like this with a good handful of salt.

Make a list of what you want from a company and what you don't want. Compare the companies to your list and go with the one that matches your want list the best. I will go ahead and say it because I know someone on here will eventualy........ Stay Away From CR England! Ok, now that is out of the way........... we may move on now!

Carry on!

Why, .TMC of course.

Stay clear of anyone who pushes "Fleece Purchase".

There is no one size fits all perfect transportation job. What works for you will depend on what schedule you like (nights vs days) how much home time you want, if you want to do labor as well as driving, etc etc etc.

Take the other guy who I trained with on the dock-to-driver program at Con-Way. I hate working nights and am not a big fan of chaining; I'd be miserable as a Line driver. I'm like my P&D/Dock bid.

He hates dealing with traffic and the public and thrives as a road driver.

Poke around here, there are some good threads by guys who have found their groove in different segments of trucking.

The LTL "sleepers need not apply" Mafia includes myself, ColdFrosty and a few others.

SteveBooth has giant long runnning thread on his experience breaking into flatbed as an O/O. There is a guy who seems happy with Swift flatbed whos name I can't recall.

Cyanide has some great posts on yankin' tank both HM and Food.

To quote Frosty, "single stack and a window in the back".

I love that line!

There are no "best" companies. There are companies that put you in a position to succeed based on what you deem important and there are companies that put you in a no-win situation. It is up to each individual to do their research and find that good fit. What might be "best" to one driver is a horrible company for another.

Who is Best? Best hauls auto parts. They are the red trucks, and red trailers. The back door of their trailers look like they are half-way opened up. Cool paint job.
:P  :?

Yeah my hand jerked for the CB radio when I overtook one of their trailers awhile back. I wanted to tell the driver his door was open! Then I realized it was all an illusion--cool one at that.

If a driver can't, unequivocally, say his company is the best, he needs to find another company. I say TMC is the best without qualifications.
