Crete Questions

We're expanding our potential horizons just a touch and had some questions regarding Crete if somebody with them or who has been would be kind enough to answer.

1. Do they have forced fuel stops? If not where do they allow you to fuel?
2. Do they allow inverters? If so what size?
3. How often do you get a hazmat load? How exposed are you to the load itself when its hazmat? Is protective gear appropriate to the load provided?
4. What type of logging do they use?
5. Do you get a logging speeding violation if you average over xx amount of speed?
6. Are regular maintenance fluids supplied and/or are you expected to purchase/have reimbursed?
7. Do they use comdata/comchecks for fuel/lumpers?

Also has anybody gotten hired on with them with less than a year experience, but not as a newbie?
Last but not least, anybody on here running their PB2, WM2, or south central dedicated/regionals?

Thanks!

1. Do they have forced fuel stops?
Yes they do, usually a Pilot or Loves or TA.

2. Do they allow inverters? If so what size?
Nothing that has to be hard wired to the batteries.

3. How often do you get a hazmat load?
In my 6 months with them, zero.

How exposed are you to the load itself when its hazmat? Is protective gear appropriate to the load provided?

They dont carry anything that dangerous from what I have heard. Its usually paint or something similar.

4. What type of logging do they use?
You log what you drive, hand written. And they computer check your had written log against your Quaalcom all of the time.

5. Do you get a logging speeding violation if you average over xx amount of speed?
Yes, they want you to log 65mph.

6. Are regular maintenance fluids supplied and/or are you expected to purchase/have reimbursed?
You can pick them up at the terminals or buy them and have them reimbursed.

7. Do they use comdata/comchecks for fuel/lumpers?
Yes on both.

Thanks!

Your welcome.

Crete will hire you with 8 months experience but will require that driver to run with a trainer for 2 weeks at $500/week. You may be released after one week if the trainer clears you, but no guarantee of this.

In 9 months I've had 2 HazMat runs. One was an Ace Hardware load with paint thiner on it. The other was a 1 pallet load of Medical Supplies that weighed an entire 64lbs including the pallet. 500 miles with one pallet to a hospital in Omaha. It was also the first load I had to unload myself. I pushed it to the end of the truck and pulled it off the truck by hand. No wonder heath care cost so much!

Here is a dumb question because Walmart is mentioned, but, are the Crete dedicated Walmart accounts more trouble than they are worth??? Didn't mean to hijack your thread Maddiis Wife!

Thats's not a hijack! If we end up with Crete at any point we will potentially be looking at a W-M dedicated, so I'd love to know that as well.

North Platte is the best for miles but the weather in the winter can be a huge problem. Bartlesville has fewer miles generally but like North Platte its mostly rural driving. Sterling has low miles and a lot of city driving which is why they can't get or keep drivers.

The guy that dispatchs the NP fleet is one of the best I've ever seen. He knows how to match loads to logbooks very well.

We were wondering, how does somebody with Crete handle a laptop? We're looking at getting hubby one, and he seems to think it can't be done without a hardwired inverter...anybody with Crete have one?
