P.I.&I motor express

Has anyone ever heard of a flatbed union carrier called P.I.&I motor express? They have a terminal that im close to in gary and was wondering if it was a legit outfit or not. Im looking to get home every night if possible but if not at least through the house 2 or 3 times with weekends off. Im lacking in experience to go all out local and couldnt think of any other entry level companies. Thanks to anyone with some information.

Whats up, I've been with pi&i now for a month and its been good. I"m out of the pittsburgh terminal and run from west virgina, to ohio or vice versa. I load out of pa alot and take them to ethier one of those spots. I'm home every night and on the weekends. I had to stay out maybe twice overnight no biggie. The trucks and terminals aren't great but who cares long as my money is right. I bring home (after taxes) between 500 and 600 a week some people dont even get that and are gone for weeks at a time. I dont mind cause the hometime is what i want. S*** thats good money anyway you see it. he wiats at the steel mills aren't long especially if you get there early What i mean by that is you cant sleep in every morning start about six and your good. Any other ? feel free to ask.

You are in the perfect area for steel. If you want to be off weekends and thru the house during the week, steel is your answer. I did it for a year. Its not that bad. You should be able to make 700-1100 gross a week, all depends on how much you hustle. The more you hustle, the less you get thru the house, but you will always get the weekend off. Yes the mills get backed up and the lines might be long sometimes, I rarely waited more than a couple hours, that's trucking. Who cares what the terminal and the truck looks like if you're getting what you want, which is hometime. I dont see how this is any worse than a shiny wheel Werner truck where you're gone for 3 months at a time all for 600 a week. No thanks! Do this for a year and get you an LTL job with an even crappier truck that you never sleep in, with great pay and bennies. This is how my carrer has gone, you're mileage may vary. Some guys enjoy OTR, not me. You decide. Keep in mind you're probably not going to retire with your first company, you're just getting some experience.

Thanks coole and snow really appreciate it. Hey coole, how was the orientation in ohio. sends i live in chicago they said i would have to ride out to ohio in a truck with some random driver. They also said that the training would be about 2 weeks for me. Got any idea on what its like or how the people are up there. any info would help. thanks cool.

Yeah orientation is 2 maybe 3 weeks. They try to have you in your own truck in 2 weeks, long as they see that you know what your doing. Everybody is real cool especially the 2 trainers. About your ride up there if they have a truck coming this way yeah you'll be in the truck but otherwise they'll buy you a bus ticket.

Anyone know if they have a website or where the terminal in Pittsburgh is located??
I may be interested if I can get a local gig. How much of the freight requires tarping?

The web site is pretty bare bones. However, it does have a button to click for the address and map of the Pittsburgh terminal (919 Brushcreek Rd., Warrendale, PA 15068).

Former HQ of Team Transport who PI&I bought. It is off I79. You can see it coming south, just below Cranberry, across from Dandy's terminal.

so whats so special about them being "union"? Are there particular perks to union companies? Also will they provide lunch and dinner or do you have to pay or bring your own food? Basically what type of accomodations will be available.
