Continental Express Sidney Ohio

We were just at the MATS 2007 show talking to recruiters. This was one of the companies that we talked to. I just wanted to pass along some information about them because they seem very shady to me.

First he basically told us right off that we would be fudging log books. You may wait 5 hours to be loaded and then you have to figure out how to adjust your log book so you can still deliver on time when you are out of hours. Now I am not niave. I know this goes on but for a company to expect that is wrong.

Also if you are in a preventable accident in your first 90 days - you are totally responsible for paying for all repairs and damages! Now accidents happen. My husband has a totally clean driving record but you can't predict when an accident is going to happen. Isn't this what insurance is for? Not sure how we could pay for a major accident if one were to happen. Talk about putting your family in jeporady.

Tolls are all reimbursed - no ezpass or prepass

That said the pay is really good and the vacation time is unmatched but so not worth it for us.

Yeah, probably not a good choice then.

If a car gets scratched these days, the minimum is $700. That's minimum and sometime stuff can switched around as far as blame goes.

What if damages total to 1 mil? It can happen----spill 100 gallons of diesel fuel that's $10,000.

They got good trucks though.

I talked to them once and was horrified! they were rude and dont pay worth a crap. Sounds like a bottomfeeder to me.

There pay is similiar to Heartland's , start at 40cpm and work your way up to 47cpm . Of course that's HHG miles . They do offer 95% west of Ohio Freight , and 4 weeks vacation after your first year and every year after , along with home every weekend . Doesn't sound to bad to me .

Once we factored in their insurance costs, deductibles etc their pay was with the ones that were only paying 30-31 cpm. That's one thing we do when looking at companies to try and level out things when we are looking at them because with a family with young kids (one with disabilities) we will meet our deductible every year.
