OldSchool??? Reminising

Who here remembers the old COMTRANS fromthe late '80's early'90's It was a North American Van Lines Company that primarily hauled comercial freight. Beer, dogfood, paper products. Cheap freight.

Guess I must be the only one here who remembers this joke of a company.

North American Van Lines has always been a decent company. Just be glad you didn't have to work the ComTrans side of the company

Hey that's where I got my start in '87. Ah the good ol' days! Had a '84 freightliner cabover of course and armstrong steering!! What a truck! I paid it of in 8 months and the minute it was paid for all of a sudden they never had any loads. It was true what everyone said they would starve you out and they tried but fortunately I was able to borrow and pay my truck off. They were the biggest bunch of crooks I have ever seen!!! They had fee's for everything. Thats how they got ya' 10 bucks here and there adds up. But they gave me my start and taught me a valuable lesson, trucking is full of crooks and lowlifes so watch your self cause nobody's looking out for you thats for sure.

Talk about a blast to the past. That is who I got started with, went to Ft Wayne and since they did not have room to train us sent a group to another school in Coldwater,MI. Stayed up there 3 weeks in a motel and then went back to Ft Wayne to test out and get CDL. When all that was done they called a group of us in and told us they had good news and bad news. The good news was that we did not have to pay back anything for our training and the bad news was that CommTrans was shutting down. Then on the way back to Nashville in a company van it was raining and the tires were as smooth as a baby's butt. We ended up in the median on I-69 after doing about 3-4 360's. I was never so glad to get to Nashville and rent a car and head home.

Thats pretty funny. Its amazing the stories we get travelling to and from a company. My story is from a Greyhound bus ride from Columbus, OH to Dallas, TX next to an elderly black lady who couldn't keep her hands off me.
