well hey there, lets see looking for a job, that depends on a few factors. (sense there are a lot of choices) lets narrow it down with:

Are you willing to go Long haul (Over the road)?

Are you looking for local?

Are you looking for flat bed? Van? Tanker?

Then you have to see about miles, pay, equipment is a big factor at times.

all those are good things to think about, it will really help ya narrow it down.

Sheepdancer 03-19-2007 09:27 PM

By reading his posts lately, I think he would take just about any driving job. Unfortunately, his driving record is preventing him from getting anything.

eastern ontario 03-19-2007 09:52 PM

Unfortunately, no driving record is WORSE than have a bad one.......like no credit history. So WHO will give you that experience??????????

doug33 03-19-2007 10:55 PM

Like Sheep Dancer said I am looking for anything, and I am glad JB HUNT has not given up on me ,the lady I talked to said get 6 months or more clean driving and we will look at your application .

There you go doug......you can ride a bike in the UK..... Thats almost as good as truck driving. <heavy sarcasm>.
That has to be the dumbest spammer ever. Looking for UK bicycle delivery people on a truck driver message board.

How many tickets or accidents have you had in the last 3 years? It seems weird that the big companies wont take you on as a trainee. Do you have any driving expeirence or fresh out of school?

doug33 03-20-2007 08:43 PM

I have 2 tickets (none over 15 mph) and 4 non DOT incidents(I am currently rebutting one of the incidents being how I was hit ).

jegzus 03-20-2007 08:55 PM

Well Doug if those two tickets gave you 3 points or more on your license then you will have a very hard time finding a driving job (big truck or not). The only thing you can do is keep putting applications in and hope for the best. You may actually have to end up waiting a year or so until the points drop off your license.

I know that isn't what you want to hear, trust me I was there before I got one speeding ticket when I was 18 that screwed me until I was about 20. Now I have no points and have not even been pulled over since then and that is the ticket to getting driving jobs.

doug33 03-20-2007 09:02 PM

how long does it take for a ticket to fall off.

Sheepdancer 03-20-2007 09:10 PM

usually 3 years

doug33 03-20-2007 11:21 PM

how do you check for points on your license?

CaliTrucker 03-21-2007 04:32 AM

Gotta go to the DMV and get a copy of you driving record. Here in California its $5 It should give you a point count somewhere on there

Sheepdancer 03-21-2007 01:44 PM

I dont know about all companies but I know a lot of companies dont go by points, they go by number of tickets. We dont allow no more than 3 tickets in the last 3 years. No wreckless or careless driving. No more than one excessive speeding (over 15mph).

doug33 03-21-2007 02:31 PM

like I said I only have 2 tickets (A: 06/25/05 Milford TX 65mph in a 55 zone. (B: 05/19/06 LaGrande OR 69mph in a 55 zone ).I am not an excessive speeder.

Sheepdancer 03-21-2007 02:56 PM

I know. I think the problem you are running into is not the tickets, its the 4 incidents. And if you were terminated from your last job.

doug33 03-21-2007 02:57 PM

I left my last 2 jobs on my own by resignation .

apache34 03-25-2007 08:31 AM

What about me *LOL*

Piece Of Work 03-26-2007 03:53 AM

Many drivers still don't protect thier driving records like they should.

Cluggy619 03-26-2007 04:11 AM

Hmmm.....just looked at your myspace account. Kinda cartoonish. But I did get some info from it.

First, don't ever tell your boss about that site. Or any company you want to hire you.

Second. I know alot of drivers who has gotten jobs in Texas with worse records than yours. So I beleive something else is preventing you from obtaining work. Let me use a quote from your myspace site:

http://www.myspace.com/douglaxson

And on the same site, I find this:

Now, for some reason, let say past postings, and your website....hmmmm, I'm thinking maybe your problem is your attitude.

That's just my guess. Take it or leave it.

      Cluggy619 03-26-2007 04:42 AM

I read thru your site alittle more, and came across this:

After reading your site alittle, I'm not too sure that truck driving is the career for you.

Your myspace page is a little creepy. And this only reflects your own personality. And thinking about that roaming from city to city wigs me out alittle.

Now, I'm not the one hiring you. So if this does this to me, imagine what a company might think.

I would suggest losing it. Entirely. Make sure no-one can find it, and start over with something less creepy.

Unless you think it's just fine. Your the one needing the job.

        Choice is yours.

Words like Creepy, and Wigs me out Lol. (random but that made me laugh lol).

anyway's hope you find a job doug, were all counting on you to find one! Support is always a good thing. 8)

          Cluggy619 03-26-2007 07:44 PM

Just went to your myspace page....

          much better.

Good luck in your hunting for a job. You might try fuel hauling down there....soon it will be the busy season for Texas.

          BOL2U.

          doug33 03-30-2007 08:49 PM

I got on with Choctaw Express running teams on a dedicated routre from Laredo TX to Pontiac MI ,home on weekends.

As for my MySpace page it is a place for me to have fun and express myself and current mood at the time. I ain't going to lie I am a big comic book geek who likes anime and sci fi stuff.

Thanks to everyone for thier advice and critiques and i do not hold a grudge against people who have shared thier honest opinions and concerns.

          Sheepdancer 03-30-2007 09:25 PM

Great doug....Im glad you found a good job!
As far as your myspace account.....keep it anyway you want it. I cant imagine anyone turning down a truck driver because of a myspace page unless it was kiddie porn or something.

          Jackrabbit379 03-30-2007 09:57 PM

Hey doug, I am glad to know that you have a job. Let us know how it goes. Best of lUck 8)

          Cluggy619 03-30-2007 11:30 PM

Great Doug...let us know how things go. :D

          madpuppy 04-01-2007 07:27 PM

:!: Hey man, f the guys giving you a hard time! Some time things happen, and there isn`t any thing you can do . Keep trying , have you tried any dirt hauler companies ? . No offence to anyone, but in my area dirt-gravel haulers are always hiring anyone that can hold a wheel ! The pay in( my book ) is lousy, but they hire just about anyone !Do something like that till your licence clears up.
