Looking for information about Averitt from current drivers or recent grads that have looked into them. Any comments would be appreciated!

Other than a search here on ClassA for Averitt try this site,

I started with Averitt last May but was disappointed with them. I went with Old Dominion a month later and never looked back.

Why were you dissapointed with Averitt? Here in South Florida they had to resort to temp agencies and I heard that after one day the people didn't want to go back though I'm not sure why.

It was a combination of things. However, the overall reason was that Averitt did not deliever on many things it advertised or represented. For example, I answered and applied for a SE Regional driver position. Only when I got to orientation on day 2 was it announced that there was no SE Regional (or any Regional) positions any longer. All truck load drivers would drive in all states that Averitt operated.

I currently work for Averitt and if you look on there website it shows what areas they run which is mostly the Southeast. They do not go 48 states since they have business partners that handles the other parts of the country. You are home on weekends and benefits are pretty good!!!!

Last year when I attended orientation Averitt gave us a map of all the states they do the majority of their business which was 28 states that were mainly east of the Mississippi. But they were starting business on the West Coast at that time. In fact, my trainer had just come back from a trip to Washington State before he picked me up. During my time there we spent the majority of our time in Ohio, Indiana, Pennsylvania, Illinois, and New Jersey.

As far as weekends they told us they would try....but in their employee manual it is worded that you SHOULD get weekly hometime but it is not guaranteed on the weekends nor is it even guaranteed for a 34 hour restart. In my time there I did get home on mid-day Saturdays and then went back out on Sunday afternoon.

I started in Oct 06.. so still a new person but I have been home every weekend. Now since I said that sometimes I do get home Sat and might have to go out Sunday but that hasn't had much at all. Most times I get home Friday (It can very to Friday early mornings till late Friday night and then dispatched out Monday morning). Averitt is trying to keep you 500 miles from your Service Center. If you are teams then I can see them sending u out west but so far I have stayed in GA, AL, Fl area. Sometimes I do get an assignment like New Jersey, Missouri but then it gets relayed to another driver (They can relay all load related to another driver in the Northeast as longs as I don't have to go :) ))

I am not saying Averitt is the best company but most likely I am home weekends and normally I sleep in Service Centers than staying at truck stops and being out for 3-4 weeks at a time. Once I put my dues in than I would like to go local with them!!!
