Down Low On Central Refrigerated
Ok well i took the plunge and left PAM transport (horrible company) and leased on with Central Refrigerated. Orientation was allright, (Ft Worth TX) after all that they flew me to Salt Lake City. I was pretty impressed with the facility, they even got a restaurant on it and the staff seemed pretty cool. leased on with a 2007 volvo for 12 month lease, pmts are 400.00 a week. lets see, i started my 1st day on friday, (paydays run from wed to wed) last night i closed out with 2,300 or so miles at 1.03 per mile. dispatcher and terminal mgr are pretty cool. So for the most part SO FAR im happy here, way more organised than PAM transport and the freight is there. i'll keep u guys posted as time goes on.

sorry i havent been on for awhile, been out there actually working. all is great here at central ref , i cant complain one bit except for the 65mph truck. but for the most part, im getting between 2,500 to 3600 mls a wk. paychecks still between 1,300 and 1,900 a wk. staff is still easy to work with. caqnt say much about the company driver side of CRS, but the owner OP side is working out for me. i see a few people on the board here saying reefer is too much trouble, HOW? all ya gotta do is make sure the temp is in place, (every fuel stop just look at it) and fill up the tank every 3000 miles, BIG DEAL. anyway, still here and feeling pretty good about my decision.

Your making payments on a truck they restrict to 65 ? That doesn't sound very fair. I'm not saying to drive fast all the time but it would be nice to have some freedom since your paying for the truck. Is the $1300-$1900 after all expenses? Glad to hear your enjoying a lease and not having any huge problems. :) :)

He's doing a fleece purchase. I guarantee the $1,300-$1,900 is before expenses. He will soon figure out that after figuring in expenses like health insurance, taxes, etc, he will be making less than a company driver.
Just another dreamer thinking he is an owner operator. Central has a big fish on the line :lol: He's making all the truck payments, buying fuel, paying all his own insurance, (if he can afford it?) , taking ALL the risk. And making squat for it! Been there done that! Hey, I will rent you a truck for $400 per week that I am only paying $300 a week for and pay you .90 cpm too. :wink: Same thing they are doing. And then you can give it back to me so I can rent it to some other sucker. |

Not to slam you Barrio. But, if these lease deals are so good then why isn't everyone doing it? Maybe I'm missing something. To me, it seems like these lease deals are pretty sweet for the company, and not the driver. In my eyes leasing a truck is like paying a company for the priviledge of working for them. Not sure what's up with that. Most of these lease drivers say they're getting more miles. Don't the companies just do this to try to ensure they get the truck payment? Yes. they're paying you for those miles, but you're just giving it back to them in a monthly payment, and the freight essentially got moved for free by you. And you don't even own the truck when all the smoke clears? Please, someone help me understand this better so I don't get suckered by some company!

Been there done that! Why did you quit if you've BEEN THERE DONE THAT? its easy to slam people and we can all look at every way us drivers are getting so called screwed. Big deal. i signed on as a lease operator, and so far its working out, amazing, everybody said it never does but it really is in my situation SO FAR., so call me a dummy or whatever, but my paycheck says otherwise, and i dont want to obuy the truck, hell im cool with the 400.00 pmt a week for a year, then they can have the truck right back if IM NOT HAPPY with the Co no more.
