And yet, ANOTHER letter from JB Hunt.

I got home today, looked in the mail, and saw this letter. This one is a little more put together for that personal touch, but alot of it reads like advertisement. So I decided to type it down to show all of you. I'm going to get a scanner so I can scan it if any of you think it's not real, so please allow a a day or two to get it, and I'll send it to ya if you ask.

Heres the main part of the letter, word for word.

Dear (MY NAME),

First, let me say thank you for taking the time out of your day to read this letter. I want you to know that I am not a recruiter, but rather a Fleet Manager in the North Texas Region of the over the road. I have worked here at J.B. Hunt for nearly 18 years and have done almost every job imaginable. From driving OTR, Regional, Local, DCS, Flatbed and our Hazardous Waste company. I've been out there and seen it all, just like you.

One of the things I see a lot of is good drivers, like you, who get lured away by promises of more money, better home time, and faster trucks. Often, these promises never fully materialize. The result is that many good drivers, like you, are left at the bottom of the pay scale, hopping from one company to another, never getting any benefits like vacation, health care or any sort of job stability.

The good news is that we have openings in the OTR and Regional fleets in your area. With your experience, you can come in at the highest rate anyone will pay in the industry. You can even boost you pay by 2 cents a mile by getting the fuel bonus. There are many ways for you to earn money here, and I can show you how!

Give me a call and let me know one way or the other, I look forward to talking to you about it. My phone number is 479-xxx-x744. I am in the building Monday to Friday from 0700 to 1700. I will do everything I can to get you back out there making the money you deserve!

Sincerely,

(His name)
North Texas OTR Fleet Manager

Anyways, I thought I should share this with all of you.

Should I call him? Maybe things will be different this time........

Maybe he can match what I'm making now.....

What do you all think? 8)

When I worked for JB at their Louisville terminal, I met alot of happy drivers <ducks>.

I also met some unhappy drivers as well.

Blind Driver 02-16-2007 03:31 PM

They're probably just phishing. They do that alot.
I always thought it was funnay when I was at the inspection bay and a driver would ask me if they're were ny empties

I'd ask "Doesn't your dispatcher know where they are?"
Seems like the dispatchers never knew where the empties were. How could they not know??

Driver were always opening trailer doors looking for empties
Sometimes there wasn't any  ....all day !!!

Lord knows I'm not the worlds most intelligent inhabitant  , but if these carriers would spend even half of what they do on recruiting on retaining current drivers via attainable bonuses, better healthcare and wages, etc, would that not eliminate the problem of not enough drivers?

Blind Driver 02-17-2007 02:27 AM

One thing I learned working at the terminal, is that a Driver Retention Prgram is needed

I dont know about the rest of you but I fell into j.b's clan there for a little bit, into a ummmm.... lease deal, Made it very well when I could get the miles. depending on fuel my break even was between 1800-2200 and struggled to get that. hell i brought home more on the rareity that I went to the house for 3-4 days. I had some good weeks a few bad ones and then freight was magically slow. In july ?/???? freight is never slow in july. how'd they do that. a freight ferry?

I've never met a happy fleece purchase driver. But some of those guys did it to themselves

If you never take the short runs, you'll never get the long runs

I got bored today while waiting in line to get some fuel....so I did call.

Lets say the guy who wrote the letter is named Keith. I called for Keith, and Scott answered the phone. I asked for Keith, and Scott stated that Keith wasn't in today...maybe I should call back tomorrow. I told him that this was the only call I'm making. And ask him about the letter. After telling him who I was, he looked me up on his list, and told me that he just taken the board over that I was on.

Then he asked if I wanted to come back to work.

What are you offering?

Well, you could go OTR at .37-.38 per mile.

Do I get a guarantee set of miles?

No.

Is that all you have to offer?

No. We got some regional work, too.

OK, tell me about it.

I can't, but let me get ahold of a recruiter.

So he get the recruiter on the line same as him, and they offer the PPG account @ .36/mile, out 11, home 3.

Then they offer the Centerpoint Walmart account @ .34/mile, out 14, home 3.

I lost interest after that.

Anyways I thought that this would be some fun to post, and if your looking, they say JB got a couple of regional.....

It gets old in a hurry. One more time, a couple months back the board hiccuped and was down for about 2 days. We lost all the posts made during the time period directly preceding the hiccup. Come on man, get a grip. You are alleging that because you posted negative information about a paid advertiser that we decided to dump 2 days worth of posts just to get rid of your posts. Why would we do that? If any of the mods want a post gone, it's gone with one swipe of the delete button. If we need to remove a poster then it's a quick trip to the ban button.

Now, I don't want to see you spewing your drivel anymore about this matter.

WildK9 02-20-2007 12:21 PM

honestly, this rant is old. everyone knows how you feel about JB. you need to drop it. so many drivers could sit here and continually rant over some ex-employer, but most prefer to learn from their mistakes and move on.

Scoe 02-20-2007 04:39 PM

Nobody said you had to leave. All I asked was that you quit trying to tie the missing posts into some sort of conspiracy. Other than that this thread was interesting.
