What about CalArk?
Anyone got the skinny on CalArk? All I can find at their website is their recruiting number and I don't want to call them without some knowledge beforehand. I see their trucks all the time, but, never talked with any of their drivers.

HHG miles is a generic estimate of a trip from point a to point b. Practical pays from port to port.
I get paid by HHG miles, but I also pull HHG :) |

HHG miles is the shortest distance between two zip codes. The route is on every pig trail thru the woods and is impossible to run in a big truck. There are exceptions, I have made some runs at the paid HHG miles and on a couple run them in less miles, but that is a very rare occurance. For the most part I drive 5-6% more miles that what I am paid for. But it is all relative....one company might pay practical route miles but pay a penny or two less, where a company that pays HHG miles will be a little higher. I don't know how you compare for better or worse. I am sure that this will open up a can of worms here. |
Seems that all those who have knocks to put on C. R. England forgot to mention the fact that CRE pays on LESS THAN HHG miles. They take the Rand-McNally miles and deduct (usually) about 6% from THAT. Every once in a great while, I was able to beat the miles I got paid for, but, like I said...once in a GREAT while. The only time you're going to get practical miles is when you're pulling a ld that can't go off the interstate at a shorter mileage. Sacramento to Cleveland is a good example.
Usually, though, you are going to end up losing between 100 and 150 miles fo a 1000mi ld. |
