Sharkey

What do you want to know?

BOTH companies are ownedby Jack Sharkey as is CORE and a bulk tanker company in Florida.

Equipment, 350 HP Macks usually but SOME Internationals
They DO NOT pay to wash the truck, so if you like a clean truck YOU pay to wash it !!!

The pay is 35cpm on SHORT miles, VERY SHORT, there IS a % option that works for SOME, depends on your dispatcher.

On the 1k guarantee program, you are a company whore !!

Short and sweet, hometime is forgotten in most cases as is LEGAL runs. This company has a habit of running illegal when it suits them. The run MIGHT appear legal but nobody really cares if it is or not. Case in point, Boston to Chicago 1000 miles, you have 24 hours regardless of your hours at start. There IS an incentive to run it that all Sharkey drivers know, ask 1 about the fish run. Personally I started in the middle of August and made 18k, I've been lucky to get a reset at the house every 2 weeks.

The Insurance is FREE. You get what you pay for depending on location.

Overall I'd say you CAN make $$$ here. You MIGHT get good hometime. It all depends on the dispatcher and your personal needs.

There seems to be a HUGE difference between the 2 on $$$$ and hometime.

If hometime is important, go Sisbro. If you want $$$ it's at Sharkey, dry van. The reefer division is a LOT of sitting as I can tell you 1st hand. Especially with Pat Mitchell as a dispatcher. Nick will run you to death on dry box.

BTW, be SURE that Sharkey gets you into the terminal if you quit, the baztards just charged ME $250 to return THEIR truck to Quincy. This is AFTER I told them for 2 weeks it was NOT running right (waste gate problem). They called it Unauthorized deadhead

It'll be a COLD day in Hell before I Ever say anything good about this company

I'm currently pulling for Sharkey, dry van mainly mid west and they have been above average for me, good but far from perfect. Dont know anything about tanker divison but for dry van...If you are smart and run hard you can get some great miles,. A top choice especially if you have less than 2 years otr although they have plenty of old timers.

Several pay plans including cpm, percentage and even a $1000 wk guarantee with 1.5 days off. Lots of d&h but primarily short, under 500 mile trips although they do have some 700-900 milers. Free family major medical but no vacation pay, 401k, truck washes, paid hoildays, ect.

Trucks are mainly smaller Macks with low hp set to hey will lis65 mph that they pull in for pm every 8-10k miles. You can go all the way to the top, Jack Sharkey and if you have a legitimate concern they find a solution.
