I believe they pay 400/wk during their 5 wk OTR training program after orientation.

I went to Averitt back in May of last year. Answered an ad for SE Regional but when I got to orientation was told there was no more SE Regional. All drivers were to drive the full coverage area which was 28 states at the time.

Chances of an auto shift in training are probably very small. Averitt was still just phasing in autoshifts and most of the trainers were to keep their ten-speeds for training purposes. After training it might be pretty good.

$400 a week training pay during 5 weeks then 0.31 cpm after you finish training and pass their roadtest.

I'm at Averitt now and I got out training first month in Dec and I got a manual truck. As far for the SE region that is basically the southern states but they try to keep you 3-4 states from where you live because they want to get you home on weekends.

You will get 400 a week for 5 weeks and then when you are done mileage pay but what stinks is when you go solo for the next few weeks they start taking out your uniform reimbursement.

Keeping you close to home sounds good, getting you home weekends sounds good, But whats this about Uniform reinboursement?? Whats their policy on biggol beards?

secretoktober 01-19-2007 09:13 PM

I don't know what biggol beards unless it means big old beards but you cannot have beards.

When you go to orientation you will get an order form to get uniforms what ever the amount you get you will pay back around 30 dollars a week until it is paid off. On what I was told after your first set of uniforms that you pay for then after that you will get an allowance on getting new uniforms (I have yet to reach that time frame) each year.

No beards. That was enough for me not to go with them. I live just 20 miles South of Averiit and they were my first choice, untill I found out about the beard thing. Hell I'm a truck driver not a CEO, what the hell do I need the be clean shaven for?

There are a lot of ex Averitt drivers where I work (www.goiwc.com) and NONE of them liked it. I have even heard some on the CB wanting to know if any good companies were hiring cause (and this is a direct quote here) "I drive for Averitt and we're turning into Swift."

For the record I've never worked for them so all this is just what I've heard.

I heard Averitt pays air miles  that is: how far it is to get from point A to B by an airplane, a.k.a. a straight line. Is this true?
