New Swift Team Dedicated does this seem right??

We are a new team wanting to join swift. When when the recruiter called he said we can get 5,000 miles on a dedicated account. We had a job all lined up and we were on our way to get the truck we were all setup and everything. Well my co-driver gets a call from Swift recruiter and he said "IF YOU COME TO SWIFT WE WILL GET YOU ON A DEDICATED ACCOUNT 5,000 MILES A WEEK" Me knowing recruiters I told him since he is fresh we should stick with this job since we are on our way. Well he calls call the owner and he explains he wants to go to Swift well I did not want to go really and I than asked if I could run the truck solo he wanted a team in there so now I am without a job and he is still going to Swift..... Guess you cant trust anyone anymore!

It is entirely possible to get the miles depending on who you go with. Swift does dedicated for quite a few companies.

Walmart and Costco (NW Heavyhaul) will keep you busy. When I was running Walmart (I am solo), It was very easy to rack up miles.... Or would have if my trucks would have been properly repaired

I was kinda pissed when I wrote that... here is what happend...

We had a differant company all lined up. We were leaving on a Wed. To go to Ohio to pick up a truck and go to a 1 day orentation. Well he gets a call from the Swift guy and he put us on speaker phone. Me being out there for a 1 1/2 years knowing a recruiter will tell you what they want you to hear. I told him that. He said turn this car around I am going to swift if you want to come or not. So I called the company we are on our way to see if I could run solo until I could find a co-driver they would not let me as there loads are expedite and only can hire teams... So now here I sit no job.... I am really pissed big time!!!

Don't understand why you can't figure this out :? so here is what I would do if I was in your shoes.

Find a company that hires both solo and teams. If they don't have anyone that needs a partner, go solo until someone joins or decides they want to team. You were trying to do this in the frist place after your partner left, with a company that didn't fit your needs. Find 1 thats fits your needs, simple.

I'd have to second this advice. You can't blame Swift for what really looks like a poor choice in partner on your behalf. And while what the recruiter may or may not have said really isn't the issue here, no Swift recruiter (and I've known some really really bad ones) would ever stick a 5,000 mile tag on anything for a solo, and I venture to guess if he was talking teams, he was trying to convince you to go to the Transcon or 747 divisions - the latter of which is expedited FedEx freight.

Best of luck to you.

I did, yes. I started with Swift as a solo, ran team for a very short period of time, went back solo... quit and rehired later on to a dedicated account. I worked for them up to about June of this past year.... they've made some changes since then from what my understanding is... but if you have any specific questions not already answered on this forum, I'm more than willing to answer what I can.
