CFI (Contract Freighter, Inc.)??? Heard of them?

Anybody have any info on them?
I haven't looked around much for a job yet and came across CFI and was wondering if their 'good or bad' company. It was the 3rd place I contacted and they will start me on Jan 15 orientation. Was too quick and easy for me as I am a newbie and just finished school.
I have a CDL and 1000 miles under my belt is all. I do have a real clean license though, with no DUI's or felonys ever. I am looking for OTR and CFI sounds good to me. Any thoughts?

Go up to "Search", and punch in CFI; plenty of info on them, and IMHO, they are one of the better companies out ther; especially "starter" companies!!

Useless, thanks for the good words! CFI is one of the best companies out there, though it generally isn't a "starter" company...and this is because the "training" side of the company is not a "fixed issue". The training program can be closed at any time and reopened when the need arises. They aren't geared to operate like some of the other companies as they don't rely solely on neophyte drivers to fill seats. The bulk or majority of new hires are actually "experienced drivers".

Catman, if you do as was suggested... doing a search and using CFI as a search word you will find much information on this site regarding them. You can combine my handle Skywalker with it and get the information that I posted during my time with them. They are indeed a "premium" company and were it not for my particular situation I would still be there, and would even still be one of the "Finishers" (trainers).

There is a specific forum for CFI Drivers and people interested in the company: http://www.cfidrivers.com You will find much information there and can ask anything you want and will get answers from people with first hand knowledge. The site is not owned or endorsed by CFI so you will be dealing with people such as myself. I still moderate a section of the forum there. If you have any particular questions of me, feel free to ask. If I don't know the answer, I will get it or direct you to the person who can answer it.

:D In my opinion you can't get any better than CFI. They're the best and the others don't even come close. 8)

In your humble opinion I'm sure. I agree that CFI is ONE of the best out there but certainly not the best. For instance they don't even come close to paying as well as Crete does.

CFI & pay

Thanks for the suggestions, been checking out cfidrivers.com for about a month now. But I been reading here for a couple of years....
I talking to CFI on the phone real serious now. Will update this thread again soon! I feel I should check some on Crete, but have read some negative stuff here about them in the past. CFI says I will get .28/mile when I go alone, I think .27/mile with trainer. Then it goes up to .30/mile at 60k miles and again at 90k miles it goes to .32/mile. She said 90k miles should happen in 6 months.....gotta run.
Thanks again!!! :D

Good luck getting 90k miles in 6 months , you could stay out all 6 months and still not get that , maybe 80k miles if your lucky

As a rookie driver it would be more like 60,000 to 65,000 in 6 months, and you would be busting butt to get that. You would be making well over
.30/cpm to start at Crete, while getting the same miles.
