Will Driving Straight Truck Keep Me From Getting OTR Work?
I'm applying at a lot of companies, and I talked to one that delivers new trucks. There are a few things I'm questioning, like the fact that I'll have to pay my way back after a delivery. But my main concern is, if I go with this company for maybe a year or so, would that cause problems if I wanted to drive tractor/trailer rigs later on? I do have a Class A, but this job sounds like it might be fun as long as I can make enough money to pay my bills at home and on the road.

the thing i see for the time you drive the straight it will not be counted as experience as a tractor trailer driver for the big companies

Driving Straight Truck
Make sure you know whether you're an employee with this delivery company, or an IC. Big difference tax wise including write-offs. you'll probably want to get an account with UPS or Fed-Ex to ship stuff home you don't want to carry thru airport security.
Like the previous poster said, Class B driving won't count for OTR. Look for posts by Diesel Ducey at truck.net, I think he did that kinda work for awhile, he may also have been on pumpkindriver.com. BOL |

However, it won't count as experience for OTR unless you are delivering tractor/trailor. Maybe multible tractors linked together...3-4 at a time. Maybe. |
Thanks, guys.
