I use TMobil. It works.

Since Des Moines is a pretty populated area, you shouldn't have a problem with reception out there.

I have a Cingular... It works perfect in the hotel, and in the classroom... No problems here...

:D

I have had Cingular since it's inception. I have been in Des Moines a lot and never had any reception problems.

Great.............thanks for all the replies. I realize once I'm out with my trainer for 6 weeks OTR, reception can be spotty, but it's nice to know for those 2 weeks It'll work!

jeff

p.s. this summer I was on a m/c trip with some buddies (From CT) to NC and TN and there were a few places where my Cingular had NO reception, while there Verizon phones did.

Yes, and somewhere their phone won't work and yours will. I've been with TMobil for many years now. Earlier, when driving to El Paso, I didn't have reception from Johnson City to the El Paso city limit sign. That is a vast area. TMobil has made vast improvement, today, rarely do I find an area that I don't have reception. I'm sure all the service providers are the same.

I have found a 30 mile hole in Cingular's coverage in Ohio along Rt. 32 and some smaller one's in WVA that last for maybe 5-6 miles. Tenneessee is decent along I-40 and onto I-59. Alabama was good until I would go across 82, then it was real spotty at best all the way into Starkville, MS. Eastern NC wasn't bad, just real tiny holes of maybe a mile. Va is not bad for Cingular. The map looks real good for covereage but it is deceiving as heck unless your in the Northern VA area around DC. I live right beside a Cingular owned tower, go 5 miles east, northeast and I lose service for about 5 more miles. Go to my parents house, 8 miles the other way and the coverage is horrible even though we are looking at the top of the tower. No one cell brand is perfect, they all will have holes, your best bet is to use a land line. :D

I had a Cingular tri-mode phone that I used through most of the eastern half of the USA with no problems. The main advanage I do believe was the use of my tri-mode. I could get just about every tower in the area.

I drop Cingular when I retired due to getting a better rate plus I could talk to friend and family at no cost.
