careless driving?
is there any company out there that will hire you if you have a careless (not reckless) driving on your record?
|
So enlighten me. What's the difference?
|
Careless / Reckess are the same thing.
You'll have to ask around. Some companies will say "no" until it's over 5 years. Others might consider it based on the rest of the driving record. |

There is a big difference between the two. Careless driving is a traffic violation, and reckless driving is a traffic crime (in most states). I had a careless driving when I was 16 (being dumb on my motorcycle towing my friend on his skate board, yeah, I know  ). Mine was old, like 9 years old when I got my cdl and started with Gordon. They told me that they treat it like a speeding ticket of 15 over. Not sure what other companies are, but for me it was never an issue. Plus my driving record has been clean except for a speeding ticket in 2001 (DOH!), which also never seemed to be an issue. But, reckless driving will have you in quite a pickle when it comes to employment time.

I don't know who told you there diffrent, but there the same thing bud :borg:

Careless and reckless are indeed the same thing and companies view them the same way. I suppose it's possible that some states might view it as different, but I haven't run into that in the 5+ years I've been doing this.

Careless and Reckless are two totally seperate offences over here.
Careless means without due care and attention e.g on mobile phone, eating a sandwich Reckless means with no regard for life of other road users e.g on mobile phone and eating sandwich at same time  Don,t ask..... British law is all about perception of the argument |
From what i understand, Careless and Wreckless might mean different things in different states. But as far as what it looks like on your driving record, most likely they will be treated the same. Either one would have to be outside of 3 years before I could even attempt to hire a driver.

And as long as you have been a safe driver for the last 5 years, it should be easy. We ALL have done stupid stuff when we were 16. Some still might stick their nose in the air, claiming they did nothing at all. But they know they did. So as long as it was just on a motorcycle, and not in a rig, you should be good to go. And as far as I'm concern, if it was me, I wouldn't even mention it. That ticket is nolonger on your licence, unless their is more than what you are telling us. |
