Seeking input for Team Oriented Companies

My wife and I have been running team for 14 years.

We did 4 years with Crete, and quit because of low miles. Several weeks we'd turn in 5 or 6 trips, and have less than 4000 miles. And then there were good weeks too, but we had too many weeks where there was no paycheck

We moved to Shaffer Trucking and quit after 7 years, again, because we were struggling to get 4000 miles a week. Shaffer wants us back, but I am not sure they fixed the reason we left. We'd go back if we could get 5000 miles a week.

We are now with US Xpress, and last week we had 1131 miles for the week. We delivered in Boise on Labor Day (Monday), and picked up our next load on Wednesday, delivered it on Thursday, and picked up our next load on Saturday. Sit 2 days, run 1 day, sit 2 days. I emailed everyone from Max Fuller down to my Fleet Manager about trying to correct this and get some more miles, but no one responds to my emails or phone calls. So now we are looking for a new job.

I know there are companies that CAN run us until we can't run anymore, but most of them (like Martin) pay a lot less per mile. Not a good choice, let's see, you can make $1000 a week running 4000 miles a week, or you can make $1000 a week running 6000 miles a week. A no brianer, more miles without a decent pay rate is not an improvement.

Does anyone know of a team oriented company that pays well and runs teams that way a team should run??

We have Hazmat, and we are both multi-million mile drivers that are looking for a no BS job. Most of the companies listed on this forum are primarily for solos, who is good with teams?

Try talking to Interstate out of Washington State. The only trucks of theirs I have seen sitting in truck stops were solo operations.

You might want to consider CFI... team pay is .43 a mile and my understanding is they run teams hard.

If you are interested in running team and want to be kept busy, as in really busy.... call Wanda @ 1-800-641-4748, ext 5609, or email her at [email protected] and tell her that you want to run team, and what you expect.

CFI runs two levels of team... Standard and Priority, with Priority teams being the "busiest". I sincerely doubt that you will be unhappy with your earnings if you ran Priority team. Teams are paid 43 cpm, and are paid based on Practical Miles. 5 cpm extra is paid for all miles run in the 12 NE states, and an extra 1 cpm if you have a hazmat endorsement and the load is placarded. Stop pay for additional stops: 1sr additional is $22.50, 2d is $30.00, 3d and up is $75.00. "IF" you ever have to touch the freight its paid at $17.50 an hour with a minimum of $35.00 (2hrs)...but don't expect to make much there. :D There are other pay items as well.

All of our trucks have Prepass, EZPass (to include Illinois toll roads) and they will reimburse without question ALL tolls paid cash.... FLTPK,
OHTPK, INTPK, etc. We also have OK Pikepass's. XM radios in all trucks and the company pays for the service. :D

If you have any other questions, feel free to email me, or ask here, or jump over to http://www.cfidrivers.com and log in. Its a non-company site for CFI drivers and employees and people interested in CFI.

I guess CFI is pretty damn good for teams from what I've heard . You would also get a nice KW T2000 . Also , after 14 years of team driving wouldn't you have a pretty good idea of who is a good company to run for ?

Lot of their drivers have been with them 10+ years...

Several dedicated coast-to-coast runs...
