They maintain a nice fleet, a little older but in good shape. You've got more patience than me, I don't think I would be comfortable hauling those oversize loads, not to mention the value of some of those boats. Sorry things didn't work out at Pritchett, they're one of those companies that you either love them or you hate them, not much in between. I happened to thouroughly enjoy my job with them, but I've seen a lot of people come and go for various reasons, hopefully when I get back to Florida I can get back on with them, we'll just have to see.

Well I guess if you dont want to make much money, then Pritchett would be a good company to work for. I dont know that I would even stay if the money was better, very mundane route, driving the same run over and over drove me crazy at best! yes the equipment is old, dirty, not well maintained, and they dont seam to care much about there image. old school owners need to update there thinking and pay scale if they want to retain good drivers.

As for me, I started working for Joule Yacht Transport and so far I like what I see. Take off on my first load tomorrow and out on the road for 3 weeks.

What truck did you have at Pritchett, from what I heard you guys had gotten some of the leftovers from Tallahassee. That didn't seem fair, figured they would have all new equipment that far south.

Yeah you talk about the old days when it was so loud in the cab you had to shout and the steering wheel was about as big as steer axle tire and no power steering you better have the turn figured out right the first go round as you just about had to stand up out of the seat and be grabbing that wheel and cranking on it no a/c no power steering and no radio stations ah yes the good ol days alot less traffic too!

Just think about it!!! All that noise in the cab is why we get to say "Huh?? What did you say??" and mean every word of it!!!

And remember.......The lack of power steering kept us healthy!! What better work out than muscling an 80K truck around a corner?? And the lack of a/c?? Look at all that fresh air we were sucking into our lungs!!! Especially when we were stuck behind "Ole Smokey"!!!

*sigh*

The "Good ole days!!!"

I remember an old conventional that I drove early on that didn't have power steering or a/c. You could get a really good workout backing into a tight spot. The trailer was forward on the fifth wheel so that made it even more difficult when you had a heavy load. And all my loads were heavy back then.
